the day before my bruv's saxo had an attempted break in.... they gave up or got disturbed.... damaged door ( being replaced under insurance)..

It doesn't make sense... the saxo is easy to get into... but they went for the TT.

Both cars were on the drive in a posh area of Bath

Never mind that, how did they get it start. Even people with keys have trouble with that.

Nah, sorry to hear about that, hope it's recovered asap and preferably with the scum that took it.

its a mystery.... we've had major problems with it... immobiliser has been cutting in and setting the alarm off... it was due to go to the garage to get a control box fitted. does anyone know of a way of entering the car.. beating the immobiliser ... starting a driving off without keys..

If they started the car and drove it away then it's very suspicious as there is no way they should have been able to start it without the key.

Hope it all gets sorted without too much grief.

OMG - this is insane how many cars are getting nicked at the moment.

Sorry to hear that chap.

Alas, only the scumbags that took it.

my bruv is now worried they might return and take the saxo as well.

3 days ago he had an attempted break in on the saxo.... the next night he disturbed two guys hanging around near his car ( saxo) parked next to the TT... this morning... no TT.... some r sole is enjoying himself.... unfortunatly my bruvs temper ain't good... if he see's these guys again he's probably at best only knee cap them...

i wouldn't blame him in the slightest.

i hope the insurance sort it faster than they are taking care of mine!!!!

adam

ps, i hope he's not insured through jubilee like myself!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if they showed up in a low loader, broke into it to knock it out of gear and roll it with the handbrake off, and lifted it onto the back of the truck.

Although a lorry diesel engine running in the middle of the night would also be suspicious, eh? :(

The "professionals" have their methods. We had a company TT stolen, by someone who was observed to walk up to the car, open it, get in and drive off. Both keys were in the posession of the regular driver. I can only assume that there are some ways through the immobiliser and alarm.

Phil

Sorry to hear your bad news, I understand that professionals will have ways to nick any cars they like as they study the systems etc and how to beat them, immobilisers, alarms etc are only to deter the oppertunist.

Hope it is recovered soon without any damage.

I think we can all agree it wasn't an opportunist.... the car is parked in a private drive at the end of a private road. The only thing we can hope for is the car might be found quite close as the petrol gauge is faulty...

Makes you wonder, speaking of fuel, if there was some form of after market separate key/pin operated fuel cut-out system. :)

Surely it'd be easy to build such a device, with bits from the likes of maplin, to isolate the fuel pump or similar "required" component...

Unlikely to be that simple though. For a start the ECU might log a fault and if you are really unlucky it may even cut out the power to the pump altogether as a precaution. You'd have to reset it through VAG-COM each time. Just a thought.

If your brother is that worried about the other car being taken then maybe he should invest in an extra alarm system? Has he told the police that he fears they may come back for the other car?

As for gettin into the car, if the "pro's" want it then they will have it with very little effort.

like u say if they're gonna have it there is nothing you can do.....

I'm going to look into an isolator for fuel system etc.... i have my own electronics repair company - will get all the brains on it...... anybody got asny wiring diagrams of fuel supply systems ?!

What would be cool is if you could wire the cut off to a mobile phone, linked to one of those mobile phone tracking companies (mainly to see where your kids are) wait till there doing 90 down the M1 and then cut the power remotely via the mobile!! hopefully they will write the car off completely (you dont want it back after it's been nicked - trust me) and be killed at the same time!!

hmmmm.. now theres an idea !

was going to fit a radio link camera for him the other day so he could keep an eye on the car from within the house.... anything is possible - just takes a little bit of money to sort

sorry to hear about the loss...

The alarm on my car lets a theif take it they bypass alarm/immobilser until the car has been moving for a minute, then it warns them to put a code in with the alarm going off and all the lights strobing, then it cuts off the engine if this is not done within 20 seconds... Pm me if you want more details

Winx

Very unlucky indeed. Have you posted the reg on the TT forums as well ?

At least your bruv doesn't have to worry about replacing the dashpod now though !

Good news !.... TT found not 5 miles away - looks like it ran out of fuel..... my bruv will be happy about the faulty fuel gauge now

Any damage or signs of break in?
