MKII Blackline Estate to MKIII Diesel VRS Estate - is this a good deal?

Featured Replies

Guys

I am just about to do a deal on a new VRS diesel manual estate.

After much negotiating - and them adding in lifeshine protection and GAP which I didn't ask for so they had to remove - they (local dealer) have finally come round to quoting what I asked for in the first place.

Can my fellow members please advise me on whether I am getting a decent deal or not - I will walk if it is miles away from where I should be, but if it is there or thereabouts I will probably do the deal tomorrow morning - and I will seriously take your feedback into consideration.

Candy white diesel manual VRS estate selling price £24,629 (no options) - recommended OTR price £25,675 - 5% discount

Trade in £11,500 - I checked CAP independently and this is top of clean condition and I had to push them to get there

Deposit contribution £1,000

Loyalty contribution £1,000

Prepaid credit card £500

0% PCP

£20 fuel - will push for full tank

Flexible boot load liner - want this for free

Spare wheel - want this for free (aware of the price difference between factory and local store room)

Car is just about to be built so I cannot add any factory options - don't want to anyway as won't see the investment back.  I just want the basic car as cheaply as possible.

Many thanks for any comments.

PS Not interested in selling Blackline privately with discs and pads needing replaced soon.  Blackline has been great.

So, are they going to give 5% off the OTR then knock off a further £2.5k?

Yes, all that added together. £2,500 is the recent manufacturer incentive stuff as advertised.

Have you tried car wow? Most on there will do PX and give good discounts.

Just to advise an example broker price for this car would be £22,917 inclusive of the £1,000 Skoda Finance contribution.

Your 5% discount price of £24,629 less the £1,000 would be £23,629 leaving £712 difference.

Load liner £30

Tank of fuel £50

Spare wheel with tool kit £160

All that is £240 deduct from £712 is £472 so not much flexibly left, esp given broker prob won't do trade in etc. Lifeshine and GAP cost nothing for a dealer so get them in for free as well and I'd say deal was ok.

On this basis seems a good deal. I got £13100 private sale for my blackline last August, that was with 16k on the clock.

Ya tight bugger what are you waiting for

I managed to get £14k trade I'm for my Blackline last March (16k miles on the clock) and 13% off the price of a new mk3 vrs TSI (by taking quotes from Carwow etc with me to the dealer).

With the deposit contributions etc yours doesn't sound like too bad a deal.

Sounds good BA. Do just be wary of the residuals....where the Blackline seems to have continued to hold its value well (they sell for similar cost to a nearly new 1.6/2.0 SE)...the Mk3 certainly doesnt.

Im currently 3.5k in neg equity with a car that ideally Id like to sell, as its far too much 2nd car for my family (I have a Golf GTD conpany car now, wife uses the Octavia)....but Im rather forced to keep running it.

Thanks chaps.

Car ordered this morning as per outline deal above.

Delivery due end March.

I just saw on carwow that if you went with one of their deals, the best I could see was 9.3% off list, you also got £500 worth of fuel for free.
