Mark 3 Auto dipping headlight failure

Featured Replies

My Mk 3 Octavia Elegance recently developed an  Auto dipping headlamp fault when in use causing irate approaching drivers to flash their lights at me and nearly causing me to swerve.   The Auto-dip was working perfectly for a few miles and then stopped.  I switched to "manual" operation - no problem.  Since then the "Auto-dipping" has not worked at all despite advice from dealer.!!!  Windscreen is clean and everything else works fine .    Any advice appreciated?

Do you mean it stays on Full Beam if you enable HBA, or do you mean if you leave the lights on AUTO the AFS is playing up?

Do you get any error messages in the CAR section of the Infotainment unit or on the Maxidot display between the speedo?

I had this problem. Lights have to be on Auto. When you enable full beam, high beam assist should kick in but I got "High beam assist fault" error on the maxidot.

Took it to service garage who replaced the rear view mirror unit which contains the sensor, under warranty.

Exactly, if there is a fault with HBA you will get an error message :)
