Rear wiper stopping in a wierd spot

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Octavia is 1.5 to 2 years old, and the rear wiper started to act up at the weekend. With the rear wiper operating in normal mode, it makes a normal sweep from right to left, but on the way back, it stops somewhere randomly for a few seconds, before continuing it's journey back to the home position. It's almost like it has forgotten where it's home position is. If I press the stalk to the spray position, the arm operates normally, until I release the stalk back to the standard position, where the stalling happens again.

It's due for a service shortly, but in the meanwhile is there any trick to 'reset' the wiper motor? I'm thinking of something like where you hold the window switch in the up position for a few seconds after the window has closed in order to re-calibrate the window motor (at least that's what you did on my old Renault Megane).

Many thanks,

B

Not sure about Mk. 3, but Mk. 2 had a well known problem with rear wiper motor. Had to have mine replaced after about 3.5 years.

Ok, thanks. I'll mention it to the dealer when getting my service done. The car is still covered under warranty, anyway.
