Digital speedo

Featured Replies

Are there any other owners who, like me , prefer the digital speed display to the dial ?

As with most cars I drive nowadays when I adjust the seat and steering wheel to my prefered position I cannot see most of the speedo (or rev counter) so yes, I do have the digital speedo showing most of the time.

I'm just a tad short of average height and in no way drive in a strange seating position so why is this? I do like the steering wheel quite low but why don't manufacturers make the whole thing on a pod so it all moves together, surely it must be a safety releated issue not to do so.

Citroen managed to have this feature forty years ago with the CX!

I prefer the digital one too but am trying my hardest to ween myself out of it! On my current Fabia it works a charm but with the soon to be collected Superb I would rather use the Maxidot for navigation or other bits... Will see if that ever happen!

I've always used the digital display on all my cars that it's been an available option on. Much quicker that way for my brain to "compute" what speed I am doing than by looking at the dial.

The digital speedo is my maxidot display of choice, giving a far better immediatte overview than the guesstimate speed of the speedometer pointer.

Getting a digital readout was the primary reason I switched my Superb II from UK to Australia. I'm thankful it's now a standard feature on the Superb III.

Being able to use the large digital readout in kph on the continent is also a big plus.

Me too!. The car is so quiet/comfortable and being a first time 'dieseler' I find judging the speed of the car more difficult than previous cars. Thus the digital readout is a godsend. I also find it quicker and easier to read than looking at the dial. Had it with my last 2 cars and wouldn't be without it.

I am getting a bit obsessed with mpg at the moment re learning how to drive the 2.0tdi most economically ( I am hoping to feel better soon :giggle: ). I find it very easy to flick thru to see what I want on the maxidot but leave it on speed as a default. Use the screen for stuff like satnav and media/radio.

I rely on the tacho more than the speedo as a rule, but I definitely prefer the digital one. For my tastes the binnacle would be infinitely nicer (and cleaner) with just a central tacho with a digital speed reading in the middle. That'd leave room for one or two maxidot screens at the sides a la Ferrari.
