My temperature gauge is acting odd, do a need a new temp sensor?

Featured Replies

Today I noticed that my temperature gauge in my dash hadn't moved even after driving for 30 mins and was showing that my engine was cold (dial says 50) normal it should be at 90.

Then after a few minutes the dial shot up back to 90 then drop a little, back to 90, then all the way back to 50 again.

Is this the classic case of needing a new engine temperature sensor? If so is this the right one....

(btw, 55 Fabia VRS)

I'd get a genuine one if I were you, pattern ECT sensors are rubbish, some I've bought didn't work properly from new, others only lasted a few weeks.

Fair enough, but will a faulty sensor (pacifically the one I linked to) result in the problem I'm having with my temp gauge?

Yes.
