Superb Mk III off road

Featured Replies

So,

Who has dared to try their 4x4 superb off road be it grass or mud ( or rougher ! ) what was your experience/ conclusions ?

Well my old 2000MY Passat 4Motion worked very well in nasty grassed steep car parking areas where others floundered or needed to wait for big spaces to appear so that they would "take a run at it".  I remember years ago, when I had a VX Cav GSI 4X4, getting bored waiting for people making a mess of things at Wookey Hole car park during an extremely wet summer (normal maybe), so I drove up a steep slope and spun the car round exactly perfectly into the space along side the next car that was parked - I didn't mean to do the "spun round" bit, just ended up being a lucky (younger) idiot! Sadly now I have an Audi B8 S4 and they sit a bit lower down so might bottom out if playing silly beggars!

I'd say, always consider ground clearance if planning a bit of "off-roading" with normal cars on hard/firm ground, on soft ground it is a no brainer, you will bog down like any other 4X4 with limited clearance.

Hi,

Perhaps i should explain, we have a touring caravan and attend District Association Rallies Ect. This involves maneuvering on wet /muddy grass . Our present car ( Octavia Scout 4x4 ) handles things with little fuss. Regarding ground clearance there seems very little difference between the scout & the Superb 4x4 . So far the only You Tube clip i have found concerns a superb driven on a field covered in snow, so i wondered...............
