Ignition - Automatic switching off?

Featured Replies

So, I'm loving my Superb. But one thing is rather annoying.

On my Fabia (with KESSY GO), I can bring the car to a stop when parking up, the Start/Stop cuts off the engine, I put the handbrake on and take seat belt off and simply open the driver's door. That's it. The ignition switches off and you're good to leave and lock up.

In the Superb (with KESSY), I come to a stop when parking, the Start/Stop cuts off the engine and the auto-hold engages meaning I can take my foot off the foot brake. I take seat belt off and open the driver's door and the electronic hand brake kicks in to a permanent hold, but instead I now hear that annoying buzzer and warning on the maxi-dot saying 'Switch ignition off'!

Is this right? Does it not switch off the ignition by default when leaving after the Start/Stop cuts off the engine or do you HAVE TO press the Ignition button?

If I recall correctly, ignore it (quite) a few seconds and it switches the ignition off automatically but it's just easier, quicker, and probably safer, to get into the habit of pressing the start/stop button (the ignition button) at the end of your journey.

That's right - I do remember seeing a warning that the ignition will switch off in 30 seconds to conserve battery notification once when I was installing the wind deflectors. But it doesn't go off immediately like the Fabia's?

Nope.

Nope.

Thanks Billy. It's a shame but oh well.

It may not be a forlorn hope, Dilz. It might be something that can be altered with VCDS. Gizmo and mtl seem to be the cable wizards on the S3 - so far I've held off playing around or changing anything on my own car.
