Want to change insurer to save money

Featured Replies

My car insurance is due 22 Feb got a good price from Direct Line but noticed they want to use their own repairers with a 5 year repair guarantee will this affect the Skoda Warranty. Had an online chat with agent he suggested checking with Skoda. It my first new car in 20 yrs so would appreciate any advice if this would affect the manufacturers warranty I imagine most insurerers don't want to pay main dealer prices Joe

Do you mean for Body Repairs at Main Dealerships

& any Mechanical Repairs, Electric System Checks, Seat Belts replaced etc etc?

I would not want Body Repairs done at many of the Main Dealerships that still have body shops.

If you have Insurance repairs they need to be to the standard and quality that does keep your Manufacturers Warranty Valid,

and using OEM parts, even Glass etc.

Sometime VW / Porsche approved Repairers have you wondering why they are Approved such is the rubbish jobs done there.

There are good Insurance Brokers that Sponsor Briskoda that can help you get the best cover for your needs and wants.

It was more in case of repairing crash damage. When I got the car in April I literally had to swap the insurance over in the dealers office after he had tried for over an hour to contact Skoda insurance for their 5 day free cover I didn't know it had to be pre arranged. Will have a look at the brokers on this site Joe

I have just insured with Chris Knott Insurance who sponsor this site.

They provided the same cover as my previous insurer but cost me £195 less. Needless to say I am now insured via Chris Knott.

I use Hastings Direct, you can set a limit on annual mileage and they gave me a 5 day swap over over cover when I changed my car. Send a p.m. if you want to know more.

They have saved me 100s since I stopped using my local high-street broker, which sadly is the way of the world, but it was my choice.

A bit of a pain messing up on the free 5 day insurance, I'm sure that my Audi dealer forced me through it all very well, though as you infer, the final step was up to me to phone up and set it in motion, which I really needed to do as my old car was not being sold for a few days!

I seem to remember that my local high street broker was a doddery old guy that had to be kept right by his office workers, he always did seem to be able to keep running around in large powerful Japanese sports cars though, so he was clearly doing something right!  I seem to remember I broke free from that arrangement when I imported my first car, that left wife's car with CU (they gave discount to teachers) which became NU, but they seemed to charge double the price that NU Direct did and could/would not move to reduce premium, so binned them as well!

Have stayed with my current insurer as they were prepared to match Direct Lines price and I saved £50 just by ringing them up, they all want your business, so its worth doing a bit of research and ask what's the best price they can do Joe ,
