Removing Rear Badges (fabia)

Featured Replies

Just a generally loopy thought that crossed my mind as I was outside for a "fresh air break" and looking at the back of my fabia :D

Anyone know how easy/difficult it is to remove the badges from the back? In my case, the Fabia 16v 1.4 badge (hair-dryer time?), but also the central silver-ish Skoda badge (servers no purpose other than decoration)

Also - for anyone kind enough to check on ETKA - are replacements available (and easy to refit) should I wish to return the car to a more normal state?

:)

Butts sell replacements...no idea how to get them off, but a hairdryer would seem a good start... :)

Seem to remember this being asked before, but not sure if it was for the plastic / metallic badges or if it was for stickers... I'll do a search.

I know the stickers (inside rear window) can be removed, but I don't have any there to remove!

Was more interested in the circular skoda badge on the back - if it's just stuck on or bolted somehow - will have to have a proper look unless anyone can shed any light...

Oh - and I don't have a hair dryer (due to no hair to dry!)

Does your sister not have a hairdryer? Or buy one from Argos and make sure you get the badge off within 16 days... ;)

I suppose she does, Rob.... but depends if its possible to take that badge off or not...

I know a few car parks you could leave it in where it would probably be de-badged by the morning... ;)

De-wheeled too, probably. Well, they are steels!

*ba-boom!*

I do hope you only just thought that one up... :p

Stimps maybe an option might cost a few pounds but fi you went to a garage where the specifically spray cars etc. mod them they most likey would do it for you fairly quick I am going to get it done in a few weeks and will send pics, anyhow there just badges and if they are not bolted to the panel it should be a matter of removing them and buffing up the area in mention and smoothing any excess glue etc etc

I heard you can get the rear badges off by using some strong fishing line - in a sawing motion. This cuts through the adhesive, then you just need to remove the gunk with wd-40 or similar.

I'll be doing this to the Fabia badge post-remap, but not the actual skoda badge - I'm too proud of that...

edit: It was Matt who should take credit for that tip, BTW - that's where I heard it.

Just wanted to see if anyone *had* removed the central rear badge before...

Doesn't serve any purpose on a fabia....

Does *any* badge on the back of a car serve a purpose?! :D

On bizzy's they form the boot release...

If it's anything like the octy, there is a round impression behind it, so you will be left with that?

Best to leave the skud circle and just remove the badge - or the lettering from within the badge if you want to leave people guessing ;)

I'm not sure Ian - I had a quick glance before I came home, and it seems to be a flat-bottomed badge on a slightly curved surface - you can see there's a slightly larger gap between the two at the top/bottom...

the badges on my furbie had to be changed so the skoda circular badge on the back is stuck on a flattened surface on the boot with no other fixings. the fabia and engine size badges are just stuck on following the profile of the boot matt (fabiatdi) has removed his badges but not the round skoda one. :)

Alex - so if i remove the big circular skoda badge there shouldn't be a problem? I assume there's paint under it and all that stuff....

Should be paint under it, as they're all sprayed before the badges go on...haven't you seen the advert? :p

I used waxed dental floss to remove the 4X4 turbo badge on the back of my car. If you recall the Superb TV ad, badges are stuck on fully painted cars on the production line.

If you are going to completely debadge the rear of your car, read this post:

I did remove the rear badge and it would have looked quite good if it didnt leave two holes in the boot!! got some new sticky stuff and stuck it back on, looks like a new badge for the front then...oh and thanks for the dental floss tip..I used hot water (to melt the glue) and a plastic spatchelor, then cleaned up with some thinners.

The link doesn't work ("in THIS post")

Do you know what car Fram has?

edit: Looks like he's got an Octy - do fabs have holes too? ;)

I'm happy there's paint under the Fabia badge, but I want to leave the Skoda one just so when someone catches up with me after I've shot past, they can have a good look at the badge and feel suitably ashamed. :D

Furbs do have holes too. I know this due to some thieving little **** having stolen the badges front and rear on the old 16v beastie! I mean come on. Who would knick a Skoda badge after all!
