What alloy cleaner and tyre dressing?

Featured Replies

I'm after an easy to use alloy cleaner that won't yellow my alloys and doesn't require me to be on my knees scrubbing at them like some maniac!

Is that product out there?

Also what tyre dressing?

I do like a tyre dressing that gives a slight sheen, not high gloss but not a Matt finish.

What have you all tried/used etc?!

Wheel cleaner - Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels if they are really grubby. Get them sealed up when spotless & you won't need much more than soapy water to keep them clean.

Tyre dressing - Zaino Z16 gives a satin look, not too blingy & as its in a liquid form (not a gel) its very easy to apply & no "sling off"

Valetpro/Angelwax Billberry concentrated wheel cleaner for me for general use at 5:1 dilution and 1:1 for heavily soiled wheels. But like Trevor said, deep clean them and seal. I only use bilberry when they're really dirty or before they need sealing again. For the rest of the time I use soapy water too.

Heard great things about Autowheels for a deep clean. A similar product I believe would be Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner which you can pick up off Eurocarparts with free delivery. I've used that and it's great, but not as good value as Bilt Hamber Autowheels.

Some good products named already....

For me - the alloys get cleaned with Definitive Wax Decon 88 usually;

or if particularly bad... then perhaps KKD BrakeAway for a stronger hit.

Tyre dressing - there are a few i would use.... Meguiars Endurance Tyre Gel;

or KKD Tyresol (also great on trim), or Definitive Wax Tyre Dressing.

My favourite tyre dressing for now is Gtechniq T1 Tyre & Trim. :thumbup:

Can agree with Ste's recommendation of GTechniq T1 - is my choice at the minute.

Before that I used Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel - another great product which also offers great value for money too.

On the cleaning front, I'm still using Autobrite Very Cherry Wheel Cleaner (http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index.php/very-cherry-wheel-cleaner-non-acid.html)

KKD brake away, Bilthamber Auto wheel or Decon88 for me depending on how soiled the wheels are.

As Trevor states above, get the wheels Sealed with something like Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour and you'll need nothing more than a jet wash and a bit of soap.

Tyre dressing, my favourite is Definitive Wax Tyre Dressing - Other ones I've enjoyed using are Meguires Endurance & Frost Car Care Onyx :)

+1 for this stuff  :thumbup:

Mine had it applied as part of a new car protection detail when I took delivery.  Six months later and it's still holding up well.
