Road markings incorrect, who to moan to?

Featured Replies

Boring one I know but a roundabout I use quite often has recently been rebuilt and designed. The problem is the road markings totally contradict the signs, the local council say it's under the highways agency's responsibility but I cant find much of any use to contact them.

Any pointers?

The Highways Agency no longer exists, if we are talking about England it's now 'Highways England'.  You can contact them through their web site.

Thank you both, I've fired off a couple of emails, see who replies with what :D

probaby get a response saying you need to contact X and a lot of 'not our job, guv' lol

If it's a trunk road or motorway it will be Highways England. Others are the responsibility of the County Council.

No doubt. It's a right hash up at our cost no doubt.

Lucky you got road markings at all. The wise men in london have decided that the roads will be safer without road markings! Madness!!

not as mad as it sounds; IIRC towns in The Netherlands employed the same tactic and casualty rates dropped.

That said, they're all stoned and cycle there.

Maybe it would work in London though.

I'm pretty certain we could do without a vast number of road signs and street clutter.

No good for blind or partially sighted people though.

God help us - I've long suspected that half of the drivers I see on the road are blind or partially sighted. Now we have proof.
