Original Amundsen problems - anyone else?

Featured Replies

The Amundsen in my 2014 Octavia is getting increasingly temperamental.

I've had the problem with the screen responding to phantom touch input on cold mornings which the dealer has agreed to replace but there are several other problems which they can't fix.

The most common one is when you connect an iPhone to the MDI port, quite often it will crash the stereo completely and it just turns off for a couple of minutes. It does this with a 5S, 6 and 6S.

I've had it go completely unresponsive so you can't swap between different modes, or carry on playing media files even though it's showing the radio display on the screen. It's also gone part way into reversing mode with a black screen and the warning disclaimer but nothing else on screen even though I was driving forwards and then parked and wouldn't switch out of it.

I'm basically being told by the dealer that Skoda won't authorise any work on this or replacement of the hardware as it's going to require a software update to be written. It's been updated to the current version but that hasn't fixed it.

I'm going to log a case with Skoda, but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of problems.

My 2014 elegance bolero and the 2016 vrs bolero have bothered given similar issues. I have been hoping the new one sorts itself out but last night despite stopping and starting three or 4 times to reset the bolero, I got blank screen of death. Park pilot is a regular no show too.

I never had any problems with my IPhone5 but connecting my current Samsung has generated too many random results - it occasionally tries to use it as a USB media device, which is something I never want to do, and has several times just bricked the Amundsen until you reset the unit - a bit annoying as the only reason I plug it in is to charge the phone

Forgive my ignorance but out of interest why are you using a cable rather than Bluetooth streaming?

Better audio quality, and charging the phone.

I had no idea the audio quality was different, I'll have to give it try... and hope it keeps working

Have you checked if there's a software update for your radio head unit? got to this site and enter your vin
