There are many many descenters of this stuff, me included.

What I'd really like to know is...has anyone had a puncture, successfully used this stuff and been on their way?

I posted the question on both.

I've had over 140 views and NOT ONE SINGLE person has said they've successfully used it.

Makes you think doesn't it?

Due to the cut induced by the pothole, the "gunk" was always going to be useless.

Never used it myself.

 

There is one guy on Briskoda who used it, sealed the original leak, but was left with a severe out of balance because it didn't coat the wheel and tyre interior evenly.

Sold my gunk on eBay. Bought a spare.

Never used the spare in 3 years and 50,000 miles.

But happier I have a spare.

Used it on my wife BMW twice, first time successful, second time failed but then found it was a screwdriver bit that had gone through her 2 day old winter tyre. Also used it in Holland on the rear of my motorbike when I was touring fully loaded and with the wife on the rear. Both with Holts tyre sealant.

When it works only problem I've had is it keeps increasing the pressure in the tyre. On the BMW after inflating and adjusting back to 34psi the next day it was in the 40's.

I had a puncture this summer in a very bad circumstances - basically in the middle of nowhere on Sunday (I was driving in a fishing trip). It wasn't the smallest one and I really doubt that anything else than a spare could solve the case (the same was said by the garage guy the next day). I had a full size spare, changed it and I could continue my trip. What if I hadn't it - well, I wouldn't be very lucky :) That's the reason why I prefer spare tyre rather than anything else.

Btw, this time TPMS system was useful. I really couldn't feel that tyre probably because of the gravel road.

There are 2 different types of gue as far as I know: a foamy type and a viscous, runny one. I have only used the silicon based runny one.

I have used it to FIX a puncture several times with no more leaks detectable.

On a previous car where I caught a small screw on the way back from the tyre place - 5 miles - parked the car in the garage and the next morning it was flat. I had a puncture a couple of cm from the wall and they would not fix it. So I squirted some gue in through the valve and injected some into the whole and the tyre was fine with me for 25000M.

Recently I noticed a slow puncture on the rear tyre of my motorbike. I tested it and had 3 tiny wholes in one section. This would not get fixed and I squirted the sealant in and have not had any more loss of pressure or leak. I know several bikers that use it as permanent preventative when they fit a new tyre. They squirt a bottle. Does not seem to affect high speed stability.

When the whole is too big it does not work and just runs out though.

All our cars have a spare wheel rather than gue though.
