First year VED?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got a SEL executive 150 DSG on order, Co2 119 g/km. Everything I've looked at - gov website, Superb brochure and other motoring websites say it should either be £0 or £30.

My dealer says the minimum on a new car in the lower bands is £55, made up of VED at £0 but £55 minimum charge??? And invoiced accordingly.

I can't find £55 anywhere on the web, can anyone shed any light on this, what have others been charged?

I may just be missing something simple but I'd like to understand it.

Thanks.

I found this:

C 111-120g/km standard rate = £30 First year = £0

Can find no mention of a £55 first year charge for ANY vehicle.

reg fee is £55

Thanks jimc, that makes sense, dealer confused it with VED and confused me!

i know that because i get my new octavia vrs on march 1st

My wife's Yaris (nearly 12 years old) is 119g/km and is £30 a year VED.

VED rates change in 2017 though? Will go to £140 right?

As far as I am aware the change is only for cars registered from that date and pre 2017 cars VED will be as what is already applicable.

That's how I read the proposals.

Correct as above
