VW/Audi paintwork and sunscreen

Featured Replies

Thank goodness for places that suffer rain, rain and more rain - no sun screen needed!

I had this happen to me on my Tiguan. Had the front wing sprayed ....few days later we went for a walk....both stood by the car and dosed ourselves up with this stuff.

Fetched all the repair paint off..... so had to be re-done.

The repairers asked I I had spilled coca cola on it....No I said....genuininely not thinking what else it could be.

Since then I have seen loads of cars with finger print marks.....usually family cars with very well protected (sun) children.

blimey.  Thanks for sharing.

That sounds unbelieveable, thanks for sharing.

VAG paint must be different out here or there'd be hell-to-pay from the ACCC to start with.

We've never heard of it.

Thanks for sharing this.

Seen this sort of damage first hand on a couple of cars. :peek:

Glad I ain't got kids!! :D

I wonder what protection was on the car in question....

It's not just VAG paint. My sister in law's Auris has ruined paintwork after their kids got suncream on the front wing.

As above, working in the car trade i used to see LOADS of cars like this, im talking at least 1 a week, i never knew what it was... thinking it was some sort of vandalism around the local aera or somthing :D

I came across a ford S-Max with this exact problem for a friend of a friend. Happens on all paints I believe.

How, I don't know.. Wonder what's in the cream to cause it..
