Irish Newbie

Featured Replies

Hello. I'm Mark, from Ireland. Purchased a 2010 Octavia vRS diesel which my other half collected for me today. Really liking it so far having fallen in love with it on the test drive. Couple of things that I need to change to get it to my liking, most notably being the cheap Chinese tyres the dealer put on the rear. Lots of road noise at low speed from them. It's going to take a bit of getting used to, having come from a Subaru Legacy B4 that I've been driving for the past 8 years.

Also, when my partner collected it, it came with 2 Skoda flip keys and also 2 keys that almost look like they are from a lock of some sorts. She never thought of asking the dealer what they are from or if they are even needed. Is there anything on the car from factory that may use a key that I can't think of? I'll ring about them tomorrow anyway.

Enjoying what I have read of the forums so far and look forward to hopefully contributing in some way. I'll post up some pictures when it's not raining.

Hello Mark  :hi:

Decent rubber will improve it no end.  You'll find plenty of advice on here re tyres and what suits a Mk2.

Haven't a clue about the keys - aftermarket alarm override maybe?

Another fellow Irish man!! where abouts you located?

Welcome to the site from another Irish owner! The extra key is possibly an extra one just for opening the door manually as an override to the system? I got one of those before on an Octavia.

Thanks for the welcomes. It turns out the keys are in fact for an alarm override.

@Mac11irl I'm located in Drogheda, Louth.

Bit north of me then :D
