Memory cards

Featured Replies

Hello chaps, what did you use to transfer music to you Octavia? I pick the car up Tuesday week and I am not sure whether I need a SD card or a usb flash card thing.

Going to order a dash cam tonight, how exciting

I'd like to know as well - I come from an era where 8 track ! was the dogs danglies.

SD card, amazon have them from £5.00. Even Tesco do them.

+1 for class 10 card. I like transcend cards but that's just my preference.

What dashcam are you ordering?

You will need a regular SD card (as opposed to micro SD, although you can use Micro SD plus accompanying adapter). On assumption you haven't upgraded to Columbus head unit, the card will permanently live in the glove box connected into the car.

Sandisk is the safest brand in terms of compatibility.

Look for something marked as class 10 and size / storage capacity depending on the size of your music (.mp3) collection.

Thanks, I have seen some class 10 64gb cards for a good price, I need to order another but in micro format for the dashcam. I think I am going to get the marcus vico 5.

You may find the book and specification says 32GB max. I have 3 MyMemory as linked above and they have worked without fault. Delivery was inside 5 days...they come from Switzerland.

I use a Sandisk Extreme 64gb class 10, never had any issues with playback. I copy tracks straight from my iTunes folder so all organised into folders by artist etc. Can pick up on Amazon for just over £20.

I've used 128Gb cards fine.

If a card looks to be an absolute bargain on ebay or amazon, the chances are it is a 'fake' 4Gb or 8Gb card that has been hacked to read as a larger capacity.

Once you go past 8Gb worth of data on them you are effectively overwriting the same data.

This is a good tool for checking it is a genuine size - h2testw
