P0600 on Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently got Octavia 2007 1.9TDI Estate and have a bit on an issue with it. Could you help?

My issue is similar to these two below.

Dash
Control system for exhaust light is yellow
Electromechanical power steering light is yellow
Abs light is yellow
Traction control light is yellow
Handbrake type symbol is flashing yellow
Speedo stopped working
Odometer stopped working
MPG stopped working

OBD said that there is an issue with P0234 and P0600 (twice - one with two Ps, one of them inverted). I erased codes and it came back with P0600 only (again twice - one with two Ps one of them inverted).

I bled brakes and got some air out from rear passenger. Improved how the brakes work but issues persist.

Probably ill-advised I disconnected battery for 30 mins and ABS is no longer lit but switch is not responding. However fuel gauge gone form 600 miles to 300 miles on nearly full tank.

Is there is any chance someone could help?

Many thanks,

Right, ABS was cooked.

As this was communication with module that was malfunctioning I hoped to avoid splashing £600-£800 on new ABS without knowing for sure. I decided to get same-serial-ABS Module from eBay (only from another model, Caddy I think it was, £90 with P&P) to check if that was communication issue. After testing without replacing the module I decided that the communication was fine and was getting ready for big bill. I spoke with local electrician who was able to send the module to testing facility. He said that if broken, they may be able to fix for about £300-400. I replaced the module with the one from eBay and all the dash lights were the same but I got my speedo back, miles were counting again and I knew what my MPG was. Also my fuel gauge came back but only showed that I can do circa 450 miles on full tank. Good start.

I send the original for testing (£88 with P&P) and a week later the facility sent it back saying it is kaput. I asked electrician if he could re-program the ABS that I've put in my car as the car drove fine (apart from no power - due to turbo over-boost condition) to which he said "never done before but I will have a go". He has 35 year of experience so I took the risk and we agreed £150. He managed to re-programe in about 3 hours. Faults all gone, traction control working and no more issues with ABS. Also fuel gaue back to 600 miles on full tank and economy back to about 45-65 MPG.

I still ended up with paying £328 plus my time but it certainly feels better then £800.

I hope that helps someone...

PS - in retrospect disconnecting battery made no difference in longer run. ABS light came back on a day later and fuel efficiency must have been affected by the fault itself.
