Status 20: Our 2.0 TSI build date is locked

Featured Replies

Just to contrast with the ever increasing build times being related on here...

We ordered our S3 SE-L Exec 2.0 TSI 220 DSG during the last week of December, just before new year. We were given a provisional build week 10. It since came forward to week 9, and the dealer has just phoned to say it's been updated to status 20 and so will definitely be built in the next week. That puts us mid March for collection which is bang on target for the original estimate. :)

He did say the new orders are being given 5 to 6 MONTH lead times now, with specification changes, due to the parts shortages. I feel sorry for anyone needing to place an order for an S3 now.

Our dealer (Alan at Lightcliffe in Warrington) has been spot on. He said he's going to video it coming off the transporter and email me the footage because he's really looking forward to seeing a TSI and petrol blue S3 in the flesh. Everyone else has gone for diesel greys and whites apparently.

Can't wait now! :)

good luck.

Funny how you ordered near month and half after me and yours is suew before me..

My guess it was a pre order the dealer add which they where able to amend the spec to suit you before it got locked.

Sounds like you ordered yours around the same time as I placed my order (December 30th). I'm collecting on Tuesday so you aren't that far behind.

Thanks mate. No it was definitely a 'fresh' order. I watched the dealer input it into the main Škoda system from scratch and went through the spec with him step by step, right through to their confirmation of ordering screen.  I've also spoken with SUK on an unrelated matter, who confirmed the order origination date (which matched the day I placed the order). I think being petrol had something to do with it, as they seem to be getting built quicker (may be coincidence though).

You did well there! Which spec is it you're collecting? I bet you can't wait now...

L&K Estate, CR190 DSG, Petrol blue with beige leather, 19" Anthracite alloys plus several other boxes ticked. It'll be my third Superb on the trot.

I was quoted build week 5 and it was spot on. The car arrived in the UK quicker than expected so I was probably lucky with the scheduling of the train to Emden and the ship across to Sheerness.

And yes, looking forward to Tuesday!

Bang goes the 'petrols built faster than diesels' theory then! That's hella quick considering you had beige leather too. Ours is petrol blue also, but I went alcantara/leather in the end as I was told beige leather would significantly delay the order. Seems not in your case! To be fair I did prefer the feel of the alcantara seats but the cream leather is lovely. Get some pictures up when you take delivery, I'd love to see it!

Likewise got a BW9 and am hoping that it makes a quick journey from the factory through Emden and Grimsby into Lincoln.  Skoda UK estimate anywhere from the 14th March onwards and the dealer is saying that they are coming through quickly from the factory at the moment once they are actually built.

Yeah my dealer said much the same. Fingers crossed!...

Given the recent - and entirely justified - gripes from many quarters regarding shifting build weeks and general build delays, I would think VW are really pushing their shipping partners hard to get the cars out ASAP.

Crack the whip, I say! We've got ours booked in with a detailer for a 10 hour new car protection detail for when it arrives, so I'm going to have to wait an extra day to be able to play with it properly. They're even leaving on the transport plastic wrap for us, so the handover will be pretty meh. Can't wait to see it the day after though! To be fair since the PDI doesn't need to include a dealership 'valet' I may well get the car a day earlier anyway, so swings and roundabouts.

I opted for ventilated seats as well. Seeing as the demand for this particular type of leather will most likely be less than the 'standard' beige leather, I'm willing to bet this is one of the reasons why I've been fortunate with the lead time.

Again, the same argument can be used for the engine. The CR150 is predicted to be the big seller and will no doubt have higher demand than the 190, let alone with DSG.

Or......I was just damned lucky when I ordered on that particular day...... :peek:

I'll post plenty of pictures when I collect the car

Absolutely. Just think what the car will look like after a detail like that. Can't wait to see THOSE pictures!

I've only asked for a 'basic' detail, though it still covers nano coatings for all interior and exterior surfaces and a nice glossy top coat to the paintwork. It won't include a paint polish and correction, basically, so no 'OMG WOW' super shiny ultra reflective end product. Should still look good though. :D I just wanted to give it the best start in life and make it easier to look after cleaning wise (three kids...), so at £250 it seemed a no brainer.

That's not bad, all things considered. I looked into something like that and it very quickly jumped into 4 figure territory. I'll probably give the car a nice thorough polish, followed by some 476s and 915.

I've also had excellent results with Gtechniq C5 on my current wheels, so I'll use that again on the new ones.

Kids and a beige interior......what could go wrong? One of the reasons I've stuck with a full leather option. I'll report back after our Easter break. Should be plenty of time for our 2 and 6 year old boys to wreak havoc on the car.....

To be fair beige is supposed to be - ironically - the easiest colour to look after in that regard. I went alcantara based on preference for the feel; the Gtechniq and Sonax protectors are hopefully going to be enough to save it from the kids. I did grab the prestige mat set and rubber transmission tunnel cover from SuperSkoda to help keep things wear free. Win/win hopefully. I'll let you know in a few months! :D

I've been playing with some new products this week on my Mazda 6, which has some nasty child sized sunscreen/fingerprint burns in the clearcoat, a few vandalism scratches and very many bonded contaminants on the paintwork. Gyeon Wetcoat was one of them. Easy to apply, nice beading but not much else, so I think I'll prefer the Sonax BSD (or Turbo) when I get it. Gyeon Iron impressed me by making over a year's worth of burnt on brake dust simply disappear in 2 minutes flat. Regular washing hadn't touched it and the alloys look factory again. It was a Sonax product (nano glass cleaner) that impressed me most though. A very under-rated brand it seems.

I'm only just starting to learn about this detailing malarkey, and being honest went sparingly in application because at £10+ each for a little bottle I'd rather be using it on the S3 next month. :D I'm very, very quickly developing a bug for it though. In fact I spent four hours today washing the car, applying product and then another hour and a half doing the glass and applying rain repellent.

Just now chatting in bed before going to sleep, I was lamenting the fact it's going to be frosty tonight and so I'll probably have to give the windows another wipe down tomorrow. My wife interrupted and said if I rubbed her half as much as 'that bloody car' she'd be made up..... I couldn't help but laugh, but she has a point. Interior getting done tomorrow!

Congrats on your order. But why not use one of the other threads regarding orders?

I'll be honest and say having a white car has turned me into a lazy git when it comes to detailing, my last Superb was silver which was almost as easy to neglect. Black Magic on the Octavia was very demanding and was where I learnt the most about detailing. Petrol blue will no doubt force me to up my game a little.

I'll be applying the Gtechniq C5 to the alloys immediately. The heat ingrained brake dust comes off so easily, even after all this time.

Congrats on your order. But why not use one of the other threads regarding orders?

Thanks!

Because I didn't see one, and this is mine. It's not exactly taking up the last of the space on the forum. :p Besides, it turned into an interesting chat about detailing. Nobody in the real world cares about Škoda, my S3 order, or cars in general. I posted to share my news, and people replied to share in it. Mission accomplished!

This thread has evolved into a 'catch all' sorta thread. As long as the mods don't have an issue with the thread, there really isn't a problem.

And the vast majority of it is about the Mk3 Superb so it's entirely relevant.

Not long for my collection day now. Already got a huge list of things to do to the car:

Treat the wheels with Gtechniq C5

Polish and seal the paintwork before finishing with 476S and then 915

Test fit the Thule Wingbars to the roof

Fit the boot protector

Fit the rear bumper protector

Fit the rear rubber floor mats and trans. tunnel protector (because....kids)

Fit Philips LED rear indicator lamps (BIG omission by Skoda if you ask me)

Fit Philips LED front fog lamps

Install new front and rear dash cam with hard wire setup and power magic pro

Fit new iPad holder in the back for the kids

Install and setup 4G SIM for wifi hotspot

(Maybe) upgrade the OEM xenons to Nightbreaker unlimited.

Carry out several VCDS tweaks such as travel mode enable, change ambient light codes etc.

Busy times coming up.......

Which Philips LED bulbs are you using for the indicators and front fog lamps?

Yellow fogs with white xenons just looks wrong so this is something I want to 'fix' when I take delivery.

For the fog lights: http://www.powerbulbs.com/product/philips-x-treme-vision-led-fog-lamp

Neither are cheap!  :|

At least with them being Philips you are guaranteed top quality.

What is 476s and 915 ?.
