Problems with Bolero

Featured Replies

Hi all users

I just bought 5year old Superb and have 2 problems with Bolero radio.

1. For some reason the Bolero radio switches itself on.

Soon after I remove key from ignition barrel the radio turns off as it should but about a minute afterwards the radio switches itself on. When I turn it off manually it happens again, the radio switches on in about a minute (it is always the same interval so I suppose it is not some kind of short circuit).

I read loads of treads about it. It seems loads of people have similar issues but none of their suggestions help. No SD card in the reader, I tried with and without CDs, disactivating AUX in, checked throughout settings and there seem to be no option to stop it.

I am going to remove the unit this weekend to see if there is obvious problem with the cables...

2. The radio seems working fine apart from the above problem.

Another issue is that I cannot pair my HTC One M8 phone with it.

I found Bluetooth module underneath drivers seat (5N0 035 730 D). I checked and the cables looks fine, all connected. When I disconnect cables the Phone button works as MUTE only, when I connect cables back the Phone button gets me to sub-menu but there is nothing there to connect new phone. Only SOS can be used (don't want to try it). When I try to pair the radio from my phone it does not see any Bluetooth device available to pair, like there was nothing in the car although the device underneath my seat seems working if the unit gets me to Phone sub-menu. I tied pairing with and without engine on.

Do I do something wrong that I can't pair/connect phone to the Bolero?

Can someone give some suggestions? I do everything as manual says with no luck.

Thank you all for help

Hi all users

I just bought 5year old Superb and have 2 problems with Bolero radio.

1. For some reason the Bolero radio switches itself on.

Soon after I remove key from ignition barrel the radio turns off as it should but exactly 66 seconds afterwards the radio switches itself on. When I turn it off manually it happens again, the radio switches on in 66 seconds (it is always the same interval so I suppose it is not some kind of short circuit).

You need to pair the phone through the Maxi dot computer on the dash, assuming you have the multifinction steering wheel, press the return arrow to show the full list of options, then scroll down to phone and press the scroll button to access, then scroll down again to bluetooth, then user, then connect (or something to that effect, trying to remember the options).

Thanks Mark

I tried to pair from Maxi Dot and successfully connected to my phone.

It seems one problem less although there are 2 issues:

- for some reason phone book does not upload. It starts uploading and then message come up 'uploading canceled'

Do you know why?

I have got HTC One M8 on Marshmallow.

- each time I connect the phone I get text message from Vodafone:

It looks like you have swapped your Sim or updated the software... and prompt for manual connection settings.

Is there way to stop it? Otherwise it would be useless...

Thanks

It sounds like an issue with rSAP either with your phone or with Vodafone. That module should support rSAP (where it uses your phone as a SIM host, and makes the connection from the car to the mobile network - probably why you're getting the message from vodafone), or HFP (basica hands-free) http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting . In your phone menu on Maxi Dot got to settings then Phone Mode and switch to basic/standard (it'll probably be set to Premium), this should stop the issue with vodafone. rSAP seems very tempremental as some SIMS/network combinations don't seem to like it.

Hi Mark

I have found SKODA Online Manual and there should be way to switch between protocols in

Settings - Phone Settings - Phone Mode - premium (rSAP) or Handsfree (HFP)

but on my maxi dot there is no such option in Settings.

Any idea?

Thanks

Your phone needs to be connected for the settings to show. If your phone keeps terminating the connection, it may be best to remove the pair from your phone and start again, this time when pairing say NO if your phone asks for your car to have access to your SIM (and yes to phonebook/log etc. as normal). This should negate the need to change the settings above.

Thanks Mark

I think I sorted one problem.

As you said once I disallowed access to SIM the system connects in HFP.

I just need to sort out issue with transferring phone book.

At the moment it copied only few contacts and then fails. I went through all settings, tried both memories, still no luck.

I think the last option left is PhoneBook App.

Now I need to look into other issue with self turning on radio...

Thanks

  • 1 year later...

I have an annoying niggle with my radio. When I'm listening to the radio, after about a minute the radio switches to media. I have to hit the radio button again to turn it back on. My phone is linked via Bluetooth as I need to have hands free. Is there any way of stopping this automatic switch over?

Additionally, I've just been driving a loan car from Skoda and it had the same radio as my Yeti. The display had a clock showing even whilst the radio was off. Is this a possible software upgrade or is it an updated model?

Sorry to hijack, interesting to see these issues!

Our Bolero, following a basic service, now changes radio stations when the volume is turned down to minimum.
