Citigo gear lever and surround

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a Citigo with a metal surround to the base of the gear lever like the one pictured below? I found a German manufacturer who makes these replacement gear knobs and gaitors and the top is LED lit (you can have any colour including green) The one pictured shows the alu metal collar at the base but this is not included and is apparently an option for the Citigo (or maybe the Mii or VW Up) Anyone any ideas on whether this alu frame is a spare part that is available? I like the look of having the alu collar around the base of the gaitor.

 Mine's plastic and not as think as that around the rim

Hmmmnh, strange as they are saying they don't supply the collar as it is an option for the vehicle itself. Not seen any photos showing it though. Any special editions that have the metal collar that anyone knows of?

Anyone with a Monte Carlo or sport edition that have this metal collar? If so would it retro fit on other editions? I assume so and also assume therefore that it's available as a spare part, I'll get in touch with the dealer and ask.

Yeah, you can do, to be honest with you any gear knob will fit the Citigo so long as it is from either the Up! Mii or of course the Citigo, so many VAG parts across the ranges fit the Citigo, I've got a Mark 4 (I think it was a mark 4?) autolight fitted and working fully and then a Polo 6R mirror switch all working as normal

Yeah, amazing how many parts are universal or are retrofitted from other VAG models. I've done the interior light swap already and the one I fitted was from a mark 4 golf. I was only looking at the gear lever to be honest as it annoyed me that the gear diagram on top isn't inlaid in white or chrome and then found the one pictured above with led back lighting instead and the alu collar which i thought would look nice. Looked at the Mii ones and don't like the look of the round ping pong ball ones. There are just 2 wires inside this one where you could feed off the cigarette lighter socket I assume?

When you say the chrome bit, do you mean the chrome at the bottom of the actual gear knob rather than the base where the leather gator attaches? If you mean the base of the gear knob, then yes the sport knob does have a chrome bit.

You can just about see it in this picture:

I mean the chrome bit around the Base of the leather gaiter. The chrome around the knob itself is there already on my elegance.

mine has a chrome bit around the top, but not at the bottom

Same as mine then. Not seen any with the chrome Base at the bottom of the gaiter but the manufacturer of the replacement gear knob says that it is definitely a part fitted to some citigo/mii/up models. Just not seen any photos showing a chrome trim at the bottom of the gaiter.

Thing i notice in the pic you have posted, the gear layout is wrong for a citigo?

Even the new box with the push down reverse has reverse to lower right. Unless im missing something re model spec differences (i doubt theres an utterly different gearbox on some...)

or is it just a generic photo for a range of cars that it fits in?

That's the generic photo of the lever, they do different layout diagrams on top including the correct one for the Citigo. Was just using the photo to illustrate the chrome trim surround at the bottom of the leather gaiter.

its called value engineering or looking in the parts bin during R&D
