Audi wheels..

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help me.. I have a set of 16inch Audi wheels from my old A3 (57plate ..with winter tyres on). Can i use them on a MK2 Superb that currently has 18inch trinity alloys?

I was told by a local a way back that I could as the stud pattern is the same on Audi/Skoda.. just wanted to check... oh and has anyone changed their wheel colour from the standard silver to the Anthracite dark grey style on the outdoor?

If so any tips.. paint codes etc would be greatly appreciated..

Cheers

Chris

The easiest way to check if you have them handy is to stick them on (Check the front first as the clearances tend to be tighter there). I'm running 16" alloys from an Octavia as winter wheels and they fit perfectly. The winter tyres on the Octavia were 15" OEM wheels from an Audi A4 (15" wheels won't fit the CR170 engined Skodas as the front disks are too big).

The A3 (from 2003 onwards) uses 5x112 PCD which is correct for your Superb, so providing the tyres are 205/55/16” you are good to go (check the load index is high enough for the superb though)

keen to know the paint code too.... although weary that my wife will gouge the crap out of them.... and it'll look worse than silver wheels gouged...

Oh, does anyone know what width the 2003+ Audi 16" wheels are 6.5", 7" or 7.5"? I've found a set of the 6.5" ones cheap..... thanks.

VAG wheels are pretty much interchangable. I have a set of winter tyres on 16" Seat alloys.

Super thanks everyone just to confirm mine are ... 6jx16inch 5 arm design with Dunlop SP Winter Sport tyres 205/55/16/91h... and the car is a 140 tdi estate  : )

VAG use 5x112 & 5x100 PCD so you need to be careful, not to mention some of the newer Audis use a 66.6mm centre bore whereas Škoda use 57.1mm

The Superb needs a load index of 94 (or higher) IIRC.

Ok cool thanks.. these wheels are currently on a 57 plate Audi A3  so hopefully should be ok for a 63 plate superb.. fingerscrossed! : )

The load rating is the only thing you can get caught on here. I had to change the tyres when I changed car as the Octavia was a 91 load rating and the Superb is 92 (If you can find it - some of the 18" wheels have this) or 94.

yep, straight on if 5x112.  It will be cast on the back of the spoke

Providing your centre bore and PCD are o.k., just check the offset when you buy across the VAG brands. Stability wise most offsets will be o.k., but the wheels may disappear more into the body work, i.e. are not flush with the wheel arch.

Regarding the Load Index if you calculate the maximum axle load and tyre load index a Superb only needs a 91 LI with 205/55-16 tyres.

I also downloaded a Skoda document on all their tyre combinations when we bought our Superb estate last year.

I cannot upload the whole PDF file as Briskoda only takes 2MB files, but I took screen shots of the first 2 pages and page 261. On there it lists a few engines and states LI 91.

Before the Superb we had a V70 which is even heavier and they were happy with a LI of 91.
