Tried to access the "Own car" service via my PC, both last night and this morning and the "Sorry, service unavailable page came up":-

Obviously this website relies on the MID being available.

Details of the problem posted on MSE Insurance Section.

 

I'm told, from a reply there, that there is a message on the AskMID site acknowledging the problem and asking customers to be patient.

 

Here's hoping they are more switched-on than the 5-star DEFACTO rated insurance company I'm currently dealing with ! - Insurance policy, which was renewed mid-February,  term starts today, money taken from credit card a week later, and still no usuable Certificate of Insurance deposited in the electronic document store in my on-line account with them - i.e. the PDF, dated 18/02/2016, is still downloading with blank pages.

 

Any wonder, I want to check the "Own Vehicle" service on "AskMid".

No temporary "Service Interruption" page - with a short standard explanation

 

Like the Scottish schools, another shining example of a thoughtfully designed, well-engineered, robust system.

 

Well-up to today's standards.

 

So good, some motoring organisations probably use it as a model 

 

Place your bets now as to how long it takes them to notice and then to fix it.

But the main page is OK. So the server and database that the Police, brokers and motoring organisations use must be OK.

 

The apology for the "Own vehicle" downtime is on the main page !

 

How many hours is that ?

 

Roll-on Amazon - about the only organisation with economies of scale that does work.

I know how very very similar services actually cost too The data comes from the DVLA similar

 

Lets just say I was looking/talking/spec'ing a free check for freedom members It costs me more than free... but we're talkin penny chews not a mars bar.

 

Kind of went of the rails last year due to family stuff. Will look to reschedule it this year.

As of 15:20 - back-on.

Does anyone know when the "new look" car check will revert to the original?. It did so yesterday!

It did not revert to the original for me when i just tried it, but luckily i recognised which pictures had boats in it.
