Irish 'Max Power' cars banned

Featured Replies

According to Auto Express.Very short article targeting boy racers (apparently if you have a twin exhaust or modify your car you are a boy racer.errr:rolleyes:.Doesn't a 911 have two sets in standard form? )

I don't have a link so I am hoping someone (Briskodian)from Ireland knows more.

I know there were some odd rules but I hope someone can find a full article on this to see if there is any tsubstance to it

One trim level of Porsche 996 actually has 4 exhaust tail pipes. The Zonda aslo has 4, as does the Ferrari............... the list goes on......

And all the people who drive them are boy racers ;)

Aparently, it's 'unauthorised modifications' that will be banned.

Story here

In NZ you have to have modifications approved.

kinda like germany then

Better get one last run down the N7 next week then with my wing on :)

Chris

forgot classy cars wouldnt count as boy racer material ;)

authorised mods !? they'll be giving planning permission forms out when they sell you a car next...

"will sir be leaving the car standard or PLANNING any modification?"

It will be like germany where bit's have to be submitted for type approval so no real biggie apart from costs may go up

I actually think thats a pretty crap idea tbh.

Ok so the majority of modified cars are driven by complete pricks and they drive like complete pricks, but that doesnt mean EVERYONE who modifies their car does.

I like the idea and the aim to reduce such drivers but this seems a bit much to me, hell its your car, you pay road tax, you pay insurance for what ever modifications you do.

If mods are approved it stops the addition of dangerous kit though - not a bad idea.

No more flamer kits etc... (Remember Wes with his Furby vRS :rofl: )

That minister is a muqqet he doesn't know a thing about cars all he can see is young lads with blacked out windows and fat loud exhaust! I'v spent over 7K making my car better not worse!

Sorry. I think it's aimed as some have said at bondo kits and not the "alloys" change or suspension. It's a bit out of context maybe or not how it was intended. I think it will be like the gernam tuv system and not a lot will really change.

7k, on what? or is my compulsive stuffing of car invoices in the glovebox about to make me fall over in shock?

Is this the end of the cover your car in superglue and ram raid halfords brigade???

I hope so :D

No, I'll still be here.

any thing to stop boyracers is good with me, I still think a license limit like with bikes should be introduced that way for 2 years after passing your test you are not allowed to drive a car over a specific power rating, like a softly tuned 1litre or something. enforced by the insurance companys.

and any one wearing burbarry caps should instantly be banned.

I've heard from the a reliable source that this change is not going to happen, besides Ivor (the politician that wanted the changes) lost his job over it :) (in a roundabout fashion)

enforced by the insurance companys.

Them boys can't even enforce there own rules over here never mind be responsible for other things  (sorry for the rant, I have an issue with them at the moment [do a search if interested :) ])
