USB socket - where is it, please?

Featured Replies

Any help appreciated. I have a 1.2 TSI DSG S (basic level) trim. Good car. I cannot find any USB socket to wire up an iPhone (I have the midi cable). My Fabia TDI 80 has one but not the Octy...

The handbook mentions it could be under the armrest - but there's no armrest. There is a cigarette lighter but no USB...

Or is the car too basic spec to have one...??

Thanks!

I don't recall the Mk2 having a USB socket. I used a USB adapter that plugged into the 12v socket to power the phone.

My wife's mk2 only has an aux input, no USB but it is an 08

As stated above, no USB fitted as standard. There is an aux input for the Bolero in the Jumbo Box (where fitted).

Surprised the Fabia had one fitted as standard and not the Octy.

No USB socket as standard! Bit gutted. Okay, thanks for all the feedback. I will check the glovebox again but not looking good.

Thanks again for your replies.

Use such thing:

My car has got 1 places for using such device - cigarette lighter in front and one in the boot.

If it has MDI fitted you might have a connector in the glove box. You'll need an MDI to USB or iPod adaptor to use it though.

It's not standard but can be retrofitted if you want it!

I owned 3 Mk2 elegance's an 08, 10 & 12 plate they all had the jack socket in the jumbo box, but none of them had a USB socket. My Mk3 does have the USB socket.

I had an MDI socket retro-fitted to my Mk2 Octavia on Friday. I had it done here: http://www.motormods.co.uk

I am sure that there are plenty of other companies about that could do it for you. Good luck.
