Kenwood navigation upgrade

Featured Replies

Has anyone taken advantage of this offer from Skoda, picked up a leaflet fro DM Keiths in Leeds the other day, £599 fully fitted inc Vat, if they had what model was fitted to their yeti?

Interesting

What's so special about it?.

The same offer is at my dealers - looks to be UK wide. This seems to be the unit - http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/car/oem/skoda/GVN-MIB1/?view=details

Doesn't look like it's suitable for the Yeti though, as the product page states it fits these models:

Octavia (SF) - Year 2013 > Fabia (NJ) - Year 2014 > Superb (3rd Gen) - Year 2015 >

My dealer offered me this when I bought my Yeti so it is available. As far as I know it's a Kenwood box that plugs into the back of the Bolero II head unit adding sat nav. Looked pretty decent and is available across the VAG brands on the new gen head units.

That screen display is the same as my Garmin!

Agree with Graham.  (Friend's TomTom is different.)

They are American I would think, so TomTom is a competitor

So, you add a Garmin to the head unit for only 6 times the price of the equivalent Garmin?

No wonder the chap in the video is wearing a Rolex :-)

You're paying for the factory look, using it with factory controls, not having any charging cables, not validating any warranty and getting it installed by a main dealer.

I didn't think it was a bad deal compared to the price of full factory sat nav and a much neater solution than a Garmin stuck to the windscreen.

Except the Yeti is not listed as being suitable for this "conversion"!

See post 3.

And I presume you mean invalidating any warranty? How does fitting a stand-alone Garmin do that?

looks a great upgrade, does it display the turn directions in the maxidot too?

This one does

But at about £300 more than an Amundsen II why would anyone want to?

I'll bet it does not display on the MaxiDOT either.

Maybe it's an age thing (time taken to refocus) but looking down there is not something that I would want in any case.

I can easily put it on the floor for security too........once the HUD one arrives that would be the ants pants .

I have Sygic satnav for Android on my Galaxy S5 which gives you the option to have the speed limit, your speed and directions displayed by HUD. It only works at night though!

Had an answer from D M Keith in Leeds, the DNX525DAB is a complete unit and would cost £1208.00 including fitting & VAT

The  GVN-MIB1 fits the existing unit as an add on in the Superb 2015, Octavia 2013 & Fabia 2014 @£599

My dealer said it wasn't available for our facelift Yeti - clearly another example of dealers giving out different messages.
