Jack for a 2016 Octavia, what would be suitable

Featured Replies

Just managed to get hold of an original new proper 18" alloy for my car but now need a suitable Jack would prefer a trolley jack but aware I need to lift via proper jacking points or get the adapter to lift on the scissor jacking points.

Also on a new alloy wheel is there anything I need to do special on the wheel nuts when fitting the wheel.

Thanks for any answers, not had a brand new wheel or car before

I bought a trolly jack low profile 2 ton from sgs, you can buy the rubber hockey pucks with a notch in off ebay for a fiver.

Most important thing is the car is flat as to much side loading can bend the sill. Also done be too disheartened if some of the underseal comes off, use gravitex, in gray, it's paintable in not bitumen based, it's similar to the factory stuff.

I bought a Jack & tool kit from my Skoda Parts dealer, was just on £40

As above. I watched a poor chap from ATS smash our 2012 MkII Octavia SE sill up at work (Ambulance Service response car). Sheepish isn't even the word.

The cause of it was nil protection on the jacking point, and possibly too close to the edge of the car/sill. It literally just ate the sill.. Oops!

Anyone has a link for this puck adapter that will match the original jack points?

...or at least a photo, so that I know what to search :)

In one month I need to change from Winter to Summer wheels and I want to be prepared.

I bought an €20 hydraulic jack, like the ones you can get from Halfords.

It has a rotating metal stop on the end with some slots cut into it to prevent slipping.

With careful placement I haven't damaged the sills while changing the summer/winter tyres.

If I remember right, some others have bought a hockey puck & just filed a groove into the middle to sit around the sil.

You've been lucky - my trolley jack took the edge off the underseal on one side, I used a piece of wood as a spacer the next time.
