  • Hang on. Personal plates are PERSONAL. If I was to buy one and it was for example JON 37 or whatever, what's up with that ? It's the silly sausages who use itallics and a combination of different colo

Worth having a VRS plate on a Furby VRS - it's not like it's written on the car anywhere else is it?

:shhh:

Personally I'd really like one, either personal to me or to the car, but as it's been said if it doesn't mean anything to the casual observer it's a bit pointless in most cases - unless you're trying to disguise the age of your car ?

I've voted "initials".

If you can get your initials or name (or nickname) then the plate will last you forever, where as if you buy a car specific plate, it'll only last you as long as you own that car. You'll either have to sell it or sell it on with the car (and probably loose the money you spent on the plate if it goes with the car).

I got one which was as close to my name as I could get it within my price range, so it'll last me a lifetime. It's already been on 3 different cars, so I think I'm getting my money's worth!

Just my 2p

I agree with Josh, both myself and my wife have personalised plates on our cars, both significantly similar except the last 3 letter which are our initials, when parked on the drive they look good, when out on their own the car is easily spotted by friends etc and they have personal value to us both, and are not car specific which means they are moved from one vehicle to another as required.

I can see the point of having a car specific one for the obvious reasons, each to their own and if you can pick one up for a nice price its only like spending money on a mobiel phone except you don't upgrade each year :)

A guy up the road from me used to have SUK 808Y on an old land rover in his drive. He was legally blind so cldnt even drive. DOnt think he realised that someone would have bought it.

Or mab am the only person who finds it funny.

Private plates are a great way of making people smile :D

Reads as "SUCK BOBBY" to me. :naughty: Very funny. :D:thumbup:

I've got my own plate, as a present from my parents. I don't care what other people think about them, mine has my nickname on it, my friends always know when I'm about now. Plus I'll never forget my car registration number again.

I like the idea that people don't know what year your car is.

Saves keeping up with those that have to have the latest reg.Especially seeing as they would have to change the car twice a year now.

Having said that,I am on an M plate now

Blimey, you must have an old car!!!!:P

I have one which says Skoda with a little imagination, you can have it for a serious offer over

im quite lucky mine starts mj54 which are my initials anyway. i just ordered some of crazyplate.com with 'its a skoda get over it' at the bottom and jobs a goodun!!

When i was about 13-15 dreaming of cars, i would always look in the saturday telegraph motoring page, for my dream number plate. "H1 RTF" i could never find it and at the time the 'H1' plates where the only real personalised plates you saw about. Anyway when i got the fabia vrs i thought i would have another look for my initials on a plate and low and behold 'H1 RTF' was available, a snip at

Mines S reg.

On the 'newness' front my misses reckoned I was not so enthuesiastic about the car because it didn't have a '55' plate.

ditto :D

I have my old reg on retention which is B16 GSL which when i shortened the bottom of the L looked quite good on my old Cavalier GSI,i kept it on retention with the idea of putting it onto a Zafira GSI but i went for the Octy instead so on retention it stayed,i should put it up for sale on the vauxhall forums as the retention runs out in may and when its sold then i may get round to getting a vrs plate:thumbup:

my furby is wearing one, SWMBO had it on her old seat ibiza. so we just transferred. she has had it since she was 17.

I bought R9 XRX for my Skoda when it was registered new - I wanted a plate that hid its age. Didn't mean anything but it was only 250 quid! My initials are RAC so I didn't want that, and VRS was out seeing at I've removed the vRS badges from my car.

Also I had A9 XRX on my audi coupe - which I bought to get rid of the one it came with - D166 BNP!

I will definitely be getting a private plate over here in NZ, when the car arrives and when I've saved up at bit!
