  • Hang on. Personal plates are PERSONAL. If I was to buy one and it was for example JON 37 or whatever, what's up with that ? It's the silly sausages who use itallics and a combination of different colo

I voted for the vRS option, but that's only personal opinion.

I'm a fan of personal plates for the following reasons:

1. Firstly, the number plate is a big ugly device on the front and back of the car. The newer plates in particular have a lot of digits which just make matters worse for me. Having something tied in with the car just helps things a long a little!

2. It gives the car an identity and, if car related, shows a little interest in the car in question. It was good yesterday when another VRS plate went the other way!

3. Like an accessory, it stamps your own individuality on the car.

All comes down to personal taste I guess. I managed to pick my VRS plate on the second hand market and paid less than a new one from DVLA.

Each to their own!

I'm more inclined to save my hard earned cash and change my name by deed poll to suit the number plate each time I change cars.

A good tip, don't you think?

I'm still contemplating getting a private plate' date=' I was going to go for one with vrs at the end but these are £500 and the plate would go with the car when sold.

If anyone would like to make some suggestions as to what I could get, the name's Corinne [/quote']

I'm sure 'VRS' plates are only £250 from DVLA?

Why not go on their website, pop your initials or nickname or whatever into their searchengine and see what comes up (and what they cost).

Mine was 'initials/1960s TV series' orientated and cost me £500.

John.

I'm sure 'VRS' plates are only

Mines a "A" reg......

I'm still tempted to get an NZ private plate - SWMBO suggested RED VRS . But I can think of so many other things to spend $600 on.

ive got plate with 'jxy' on it ( short for jinxy ) made sure i bought dateless so can swap and change onto any car in future rather than repurchase

You can have whatever you want as long as it's not taken and not offensive.

Its like everything else. Each to there own.

I have M*ULV, which is my surname / nickname. It was a present and goes with me with each car.

I have a dislike for made up names / italics / plates held on with 6 screws to make a name tho.

I like to see a nice short p/plate , always sticks in my mind.

Plates come in to it a bit when playing car sightings top trumps with the guys at work. something like 2 F even on an old car looks cool. But thats just me.

Go for it, its an investment at the end of the day, they dont loose their value really.

My dads friend very nearly bought '1MOB' for his e-type jag. Name being M. O'Brien.

Asking price was 12k, and when i asked him why on earth would you waste 12k on a reg plate, he said, well it will be worth at least 12k in 5years time wont it?

They're worth it if not tied to the car. I considered MY06 ZGT and A350 ZGT but decided against it.

I would have a plate as an investment, but not put it on the car. I don't like that.

Don't doctor the spacing or font!

Went to an IAM meet last night and the police had a brief presentation on ANPR - he said that they (countrywide) are targeting illegally spaced/written plates and if you recieve 2 tickets for it you lose the right to use the plate and DVLA can legally re-sell it

None of the above; the only ones worth having are the odd funnies, like the former Miss Scotland who had SHE 156Y, or the Sierra Cossie with GUS 151T.

3V0M works quite well.

I should know. Was warned once, written to once, ANPRd once and fined, and then "f*** this. it's not worth it" once told my plate could be taken away next time, so respaced it legally again. I was always a little aggrieved that there were people with honeycomb backgrounds / italics / tiny tiny teeny weeny fonts going around apparently immune to police prosecution, yet I got done for a bit of mis-spacing on a plate with the right font/size/background. I know its all "illegal" but I always thought I was about 20%, whereas some were just taking the mickey!

you can buy mine if you offer loads of money? lol

get one, if people think your a to55er then they are probably just jelous!

mine is P111 VRS

I want a 21 TWE plate - belated birthday pressie that was on hold pending car choice - S and T are the only 2 available...

I'll get it in 6 months when my car is no longer "new"... lol.
