I am thinking of buying a personalised plate but am in two minds. What do you think, are personalised plates a perfect addition to your pride and joy or are they a total waste of money and bought by to55ers?.

Hi

Sorry to say that I always associate personailsed plates with the latter option.

Chris

i agree with chris

i got personalised plates for my birthday. I wouldn`t consider myself less worthy than the rest of you. Would you?

I guess that would make me a to55er too...........................oh well!

I like it to be honest, both me and the mrsus have one.

At least I'm happy with it! lol Mine has been on 3 cars now already as it saves me having to remember a new number plate.

got a pp on mine made up of our initials, valentines gift to ourselfs:D

I'd suggest you only need to ask yourself that question. Some will advocate the choice of a personal plate, others will not. If you have more pressing requirements of your cash then use it there.

As I said in another thread, I was amongst the last of folk who thought they had any place in the list of requirments for a car but thought long and hard about it and came to my decision to buy one.

It also rests on whether you buy one for yourself or the car. I chose the latter and would be prepaired to leave it on the car were I to sell it.

You could ask the same about all the other mods people do to their cars. Not necessary but done out of personal choice.

just see them as completly pointless...... they mean nothing to anyone except the people who own them. After all i wuddnt know what the initials ment when i drive past someone... so waste of money.

Point is, I think, they're not necessarily meant for your amusement, education or anything else, generally speaking.

My parents want to get me a personalised plate for my 21st birthday, will be getting R5 TWE. :D

So I didn't vote, as I would go for both 1 and 2! ;)

I got mine fitted yesterday. I could have got a 'VRS' for

Personal plates are a personal choise:) .....................and yes I have opne B1* VRS:thumbup: ............And I like it:D

When I bought my first vRS I looked at the usual initials, nicknames etc - it was only when I got to the last page I found the plate that I used - SK02DAW which was perfect for me - spelt SK0DA and also my initials DAW so was both for the car(left it on when I sold it) and for me

I almost bought V1 VRS, a year or so ago, it was only £299, direct from the DLVA! Cheap as chips!

Probably wish I had now...

Hang on. Personal plates are PERSONAL. If I was to buy one and it was for example JON 37 or whatever, what's up with that ? It's the silly sausages who use itallics and a combination of different coloured number plate bolts who are really sad in my opinion. (need to watch myself as my reputation is "shameless")

Not into them myself. Each to their own I guess.

I've been after a specific plate for over 2 years now, it's my nickname and written correctly too, none of this 'if the middle bit wasn't there it would spell xxxx etc rubbish' but the DVLA wont release it yet for some reason, it always just says 'nominated for future auction' so I guess that means its gonna cost thousands rather than hundreds, cant understand really, no one else in the world can have my nickname, let alone want a plate with it on?

I was due to buy my nickname w1nky or w1nks from the dvla auction when they were released, but each went for 8k plus so decided not to! Went for something that means something to me, family and mates... Sometimes wish I hadnt as it is so memorable and I worry about people seeing me places I shouldnt be:rolleyes:

I can see why people disagree with them but for me it was just a bit of fun, lifetime investment!

Then slap on tax and vat plus an £80 transfer fee. Rip off !

jonny boy, DVLA prices are all in. It's the other sites that 'rip you off'
