Squeaky doors

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My door rubbers are getting squeaky whenever the car hits rough or uneven surface that makes the chassis flex. Also very noticeable on fast takeoffs. The drivers door is the worst. I've applied gummi pfledge to all door but it hasn't helped.

Anyone else experienced this and can offer a solution?

Cheers.

I've not experienced this on an Octavia but on my Mk1 Fabia VRS I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be the wishbone bushes (I think Skoda call them Consul Bushes) on the front suspension that were squeaking.

I think I have experienced this on very hot summer days.. not sure if I made it better or worse after applying some rubber care product.

So after doing some google searches, seems this is very common also to bmw's. One theory is it is due to wax from washing or polishing the car, and the key is to remove the wax. So i got a bucket of hot water with dishwashing liquid and used a sponge to wipe over the door seals and inside door jambs. Incredibly, the car is now silent - no more squeaks. Great outcome!

The owners manual says nothing is to applied to the door seals. They have been treated from the factory to prevent freezing and such. Just to inform.
