Felicia headlight removal?

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondering if anyone here can save me some time and tell me how to remove the headlight from my felicia.

I can see the screws at the top (!) but I assume there must be some holding it in place at the bottom too - can these be reached easily or do I have to dismantle the front of the car?

Any pointers in the right direction, to stop me making the job unnecessarily complicated, would be much appreciated.

Yes actually they are some more screws ..if u remove the plastic thing under the headlight (face-lift model) there u should see two more screws and that's it.....i did it myself ...and u can do it too...u just have to gentle pull the head light out....hope i helped you ...c'ya

Thanks, unfortunately it's not the facelift model (perhaps I should have said that before), so I have no "plastic thing" under the headlight - just a metal panel that stretches across the front of the car from one wing to the other.

yes...well ... u should start getting it out...the panel form your front grill after u get him out u will see under the headlight 2 screws i mostly sure that the front panel must have at least 2 screws and...a few clips.....good luck ...tell me how it went

6 screws and you'll bend in

or was that just me gettin angry????

two csrews at top two at bottom, you need to remove front grille to do this remove both indicators that will reveal two (one each side) 8mm headed bolts, two 10mm headed bolts on top of grille and 2 10mm headed bolts that are each side of the radiator hope this helps cheers k.

Thanks big k, that was the info I needed. Once I'd worked out how to remove the indicators (simple once I'd looked in the driver's handbook!) the only problem I ran into was the bolts either side of the radiator (accessible through the oval-shaped cut-out if anyone else is reading this later) - the 1.6 engine must have a bigger radiator because it covers one of the nuts, so I had to unscrew the radiator and move it out of the way.

Moral of the story, if your headlight lens gets a stone chip, get the chip repaired before the lens cracks and lets water into the light!

Diesel radiator gets in the way of the centre studs too. Maybe easier to put in spring clips instead of them to make things easier next time. No-one's bothered with anything on mine and it seems to be ok on just the top and outer pairs. It may rattle a bit but I can't hear it. Someone's cut access holes in the sides of the plastic cowl to get to the studs but you still can't get a spanner in there or a nut on to them.

Just replaced the headlights on my '97 Diesel for Euro spec ones in advance of registering in spain (40 euros from the local scrappy - beats 280 from the dealer!).

The indicators came out easy enough once the retaining tabs were pressed in with the aid of a large flat ended screwdriver (very dirty, and a bit seized, so hand power no enough)

The front panel was a pain as the 2 retaining nuts behind the radiator mentioned in above posts required unbolting and moving the radiator and power steering reservoir. Still needed 1/4 inch ratchet extension and flexible joint to get at the nuts!!

Anyway, all went back on smoothly (using clips instead of the awkward nuts), I just need to work out how to align the buggers as I assume euro spec is different... might just get the garage to do it.... (knackered remote adjusters as usual though.... how the hell do I expalin THAT in Spanish???). Then theres just the cheapo balljoint I put on last year that has already ripped its seal (the genuine on is still fine and was only 3 quid more...) and hopefully we are ready for the ITV (MOT).....
