Fabia Tdi Preheat Light

Featured Replies

the glow plugs preheat light has started flashing while the car is being driven does anyone know what, if any, fault this indicates?

Could be a fault warning - Is there a fault indicator index in the manual. I'll go out to get my TDI's manual now...

Edit - Cannot see anything about glow plug fault light - Only that they light up when you start the engine... Well, no 5hit Sherlock.:D

is it just me or are skoda service departments all crap?? does anybody have any positive experiences and not get the "hey what do expect from the money" attitude ??????

Hmm - the bloke on the phone is rarely an expert - I think I sometimes know what's wrong before they think of the cause... :(

It's best to have a mechanic mate who can diagnose problems, before going to a dealer.

Could be just you. ;)

Seriously though, plenty of us have very positive experiences with our service depts.

The one that I use is *by far* the best of any in my experience. Superb staff.

Oh, welcome to Briskoda! :D

thanx for making me feel wellcome guys, took the car to the dealers today and after the usual "you got to have an appointment" crap with the service dept one of the salesmen overheard the convo and instantly came up with answer....one of the brake light bulbs had blown.....obvious huh? lol icon12.gif

same thing happened when my brake light switch was faulty.

replaced under warranty.

To confuse matters further, the Octavia Owner's Manual says that if the (glowplug) warning light flashes when driving, there is a fault in the system.

bit of an explanation from big K here as to why the brake bulb failure triggers the glow plug light...

As luck would have it, BOTH my brake lights failed today (the pre-heat warning flashing at me). Also noticed the high intensity brake light was permanently on, although very dimly. Only had one spare, so whipped out one of the reverse light bulbs (21w) to get me legal and out of trouble.
