Replacing radiator headlight out?

Featured Replies

How can I get the left headlight out? It looks problematic?!

I need to take it out to loosen the upper left screw on the radiator.

The tree others i can make in some C-moments.

Is there some other way than disassemble the front bumper?

And how can I disassemble the front bumper, if I have to?

There's a guide of how to take bumper off,it's really easy, but you can remove the light without doing this, I've done it. From memory it's only 2 torx screws (in top of unit) and 2 bolts (one behind the light (take the bulb cover off) one in front just above bumper))

You can loosen the bumper by removing the two torx bolts in front of the radiator, bumper then will bend enough to remove the headlight.

Edit: I took the whole front of the car off to replace the radiator because I had a fragile aircon condenser to consider, it didn't take very long to whip the whole lot off.

If you are replacing the radiator the front carrier will have to be slid forward

I replaced the rad in my 1.4 mpi (non aircon) without removing anything, just wedged arm between bumper and rad to undo the two bottom screws. Would not recommend

If the radiator is leaking somewhere near the thermoswitch which triggers the fan(s), try tightening the thermoswitch a little before replacing the radiator, unless you can see 100% that it is leaking from another point. Both our cars had leaks fixed with just this, last summer.

Thanks, i will look again.... The leak is in the right side, and I don't think there is a sensor there?

Right side when you're sitting in the car? or right side as you look into the engine bay standing in front facing the windscreen? I guess you mean the first one, in which case you are correct. Thermoswitch is just above bottom radiator hose attachment.

In the left side of the car, yes. Where I sit, but not you, since you have the steering wheel on the right side. I think I check that plug - in the left side of the car..?

Left hand drive troubles :D
