It's green, and it's ****in double awsome.:D :D

it's still in the box :orb_rolli :orb_upset shame mode>

I can't wait to get it fitted - no time before I go on hols now but trying to get one of the Briskoda experts hooked up for January :)

In the meantime - in what way does it alter the handling, I was led to believe it will make the car get closer to oversteer when pulling 'out' of roundabouts?

(a little jealous now but I know it's gonna go on soon now :P )

how much was it?

190 quid plus p&p or fitting.

Was a limited run - dunno if more will be made but probably at some point I'm guessing :)

I am having mine fitted on the morning of the 21st if anyone else is about @ Jabba that day.

Shifty, did you get the "info" ..... nudge / wink etc etc

Are they making anymore?

Getting mine in Jan, looking forward to it now after all the ****ing awesome remarks!!!

More comments please!!!!!

A couple of questions:

Why is it so expensive?

Does the high cost justify the benefits?

When fitting can someone post up a couple of pictures of the full thing fitted, not rusty like Js. I was going to try and knock one up.

After being out in Shifty's it is awesome. full stop.

its fiddly, but even a mechanical tardbert like me managed to fit it on my driveway!

Well, after extensive testing last night on my favourite twisty road, plus a few high speed roundabouts, and various other scenarios, a bit fat yes to "is it worth it".

Basically - what does it do in reality?

Well, first thing you notice, is the back of the car feels tighter, more taught. Next, when you take a corner at speed, "where has the body roll gone?". Stability over uneven b roads has improved dramatically. The b road i use for testing, is very very uneven, very fast, and has one particular bend with a hump in the middle, which normally requires some opposite lock. Not anymore. Car feels so much more planted in corners, barely any body roll, and the ability to enter, execute, and exit corners much quicker, and much smoother than before.

Another feature is that if you enter a large roundabout/sweeping bend too quickly, and you lift off, before the arb - the car remained fairly neutral. Now, the rear nips round, giving slight understeer. On a wet road, i should imagine a full on tailslide could be provoked quite easily.

In summary - Trip to Jabba, 500 miles - ARB -

Ahh, thatll be the one where i was looking at ColinD's fast approaching Xenons thru my passenger side window

Thanks for the write up guys.

I though the rear ARB was suppose to reduce understeer or do you mean oversteer?

Sorry, yes I mean oversteer. Having a Fabia, understeer is permanantly on my mind :D

I wouldnt say it reduces understeer, just that it is infinately more controlled. Still need to play with tyre pressures yet, so watch this space.

Few Q's to those with this rear ARB mod:

Do u have standard or modded springs/dampers and is the mod a good idea in either situation? Also if ur not the best driver in the world and u slap an ARB mod on are u more likely to find the ends of your driving talent than if the car is standard. How much are suspension mods costing people in terms of insurance especially compared to remaps.

I was also wondering what would be quicker round the b roads a fabia with modded suspension or one with a remap and standard suspension. Just curious as it seems to me lots of peeps are going for remaps on standard suspension then later needing a new clutch i wonder if a better option is sort the suspension so it doesn't handle like a boat and thus don't mess up ur engines warranty?

Would be interesting to hear peoples opinions, at the end of the day im trying to find out what is more fun better handling OR mor power (both in a perfect world I guess but hey)?????

If you mod the suspension you'll void warranty on that, and conversely, if you remap the ECU you'll void warranty on the engine.

If you sort the handling out first it will stick to the road better. The extra power will give you a lot of fun but no doubt the car will feel like it can't hack it round bends.

As for the ARB making it more likely to swap ends, that's a tricky one. I'm guessing it could as the understeer is reduced, but I've not pushed the car hard enough to reach unsafe limits.

Ive pushed mine fairly hard, and lift of oversteer is a possibility, but you would have to be really going some. Ive just been out in the pouring rain trying to provoke a tailslide, but only achieved a small one at high speed, with a complete lift off throttle. So, at the moment, i would say it wouldnt be dangerous. Although, unless you drive it fairly hard, the benefit of the arb is negligable anyway.

I agree with the above - I don'tpush my car hard in bends, after coming a cropper once... :D But I've not had any lift off oversteer atall - It simply seems to have nipped understeer in the bud a fair bit. Just seems to have tightened up the back end through corners, and it now follows the car securely rather than getting a little twisted up.

Bear in mind this is on a "tdi" though. ;)

Jason... fancy buying the H&R front jobbie to see what that does?

Not sure? Is this a direct replacement for the factory fit ARB? Or a.n.other one?

So does it actually stop the car from wallowing in the bends? Also is it a good idea on standard suspension or would u only recommend it on uprated dampers and springs?
