After 1 months ownership of my VRS Diesel Estate i am very pleased with my purchase, i say my purchase as originally the car was for my wife but a change in work location has meant the car is mine.

So far i have done 1,200 miles of mixed A roads, Motorways and the weekend trips to the shops, so far i have averaged 48mpg, hopefully this will increase as the engine breaks in and i stop playing silly buggers in third gear.

What i like

I am please i got some seat protectors to go under the child seats in the back as they have done a good job protecting the leather underneath.  The Canton is growing on me, the boot protector is a good idea as i have carried a filthy lawnmower in the boot and occasionally the boot doubles as a toilet whilst my son is potty training. Also got a Thinkware Dashcam fitted, i think this is the way to go nowdays.

What i dislike

The tyre noise can be annoying, but this is only on certain surfaces but normally i turn the stereo up louder. I have pulled the boot handle off, seems a cheap design? The colour, black, forever dirty and shows marks very easy. I already have a ding in the door from a shopping trolley.

I will be getting the ding and the boot handle fixed and de-badge the rear end.

Glad you're generally liking the car - mine improved noise wise when i swapped the tyres out to Goodyear Eagle F1's. As for the black, i feel your pain - poorboys black hole glaze is a good bet on the old swirl marks, but i try to be careful with the cleaning side also (snow foam, 2 bucket method, careful drying - and certainly avoid the free skoda valeting!)

Just on the tyre noise please, what tyres did you have before you swapped to the goodyears?

They were bridgestones but can't recall the actual ones

That's grand cheers. I have contis and am so tempted to change them as others in previous threads have reported improved ride and noise reduction on the F1's, so thought I'd check with you. Just struggling to justify the cost when I've 4 tyres on with plenty of distance left on them [emoji17]

My biggest disappointmemt with the Octavia is relatively poor NVH refinement. Heck of alot of car for the money otherwise.

I have a Golf too and hate to say it when you drive them you can see where the extra money has gone. Overall build quality isnt dissimilar though.

May i know what seat protectors did you use to protect the leather seats from the child seats?

Yes me too. When you say protect, do you mean to stop them making an ident in the padding? Isofix seats fit that tightly into the seat I think mine will be permanently ruined now

I've got this for mine: Hauck-Sit-Deluxe-Seat-Protector

It's nice and thick to protect the rear and base of the seat. The small pocket at the bottom isn't much use in my situation as the maxi-cosi family 2 way seat base blocks access to it.
