What Alfa Romeo?

Featured Replies

No pics but its the one with two red round rear lights. It said 2.0 Twin Spark if that helps - but I doubt it! Searched on google and parkers.co.uk but I cant seem to find it..

Probably a 156? You can be guarenteed one thing, it was a posh fiat. :D

2 round rear lights?? u mean the Alfa 147?? was it a hatchbak or wut?? if a hatchbak, then its the awesome alfa 147

It's not the 156 or a 147. Just searched through 10 pages of google images looking at random Alfo Romeo pictures and cant find it - it's annoying me now :)

No other manufacturer has "T.Spark" right? If it helps the car looked quite similar to a Fiat car (Brava?). It has the sweeping body lines and looked like a last generation model (i.e not old old but not of the new shape).

Edit - Actually I think it was the Fiat Coupe.. but I'm almost 100% certain it said T.Spark.. any ideas?!

Fiat Coupe has that kind of straight line thing going on, from the boot lid area down toward the bottom of the front wheelarch. Also its obviously a lot sportier looking / lower / 2+2 seats IIRC. Maybe just two seats? Twin spark is just the name of the engine, and I believe was put in lots of Alfas. :) Not sure what it means either. Sounds something along the lines of the VTEC principle? Some kind of one level of running, then when its on full throttle, some other fuelling thing kicks in?

If it looked like a Fiat Coupe, but was a T Spark Alfa, It'd probably be a GTV, but that's got one long light at the back... not round one's!

Yes the T spark it is in most current models. Twin spark actually means there is two spark plugs per cylinder to help fuel consumption, reduce emmisions and give a smoother power delivery... well so they say! Honda's VTEC is a totally different thing... it has an extra cam which kicks in later on in the rev range to give extra ommph... but that another subject.

was it definately english?I have a friend in greece with a brava that has two round red lights?

Looked on carsfromitaly.com and cant find it. I think it was English and it probably wasn't a Brava as it pulled away quite nicely (even though I had 3 other passengers..). I remember seeing them before just never really took much notice - they're quite a popular car.

Needless to say I'll be keeping a lookout from now on! Thanks for all the help though guys :D

Not a BravA, these have 3 slits for the back lights, it's the bravO with the round lights!

Some Bravo's are fast, there's a 155bhp HGT version which should not be underestimated, and wouldn't be suprosed if that took off quite quickly!!

Just had a look, most definitely not a Bravo! Must have been an Alfa of some sort..

Indeed the HGT is fairly quick, 5 cylinders. 4 valves per cylinder, twin cams etc and it does have twin round lights at the back.

Twin spark is only found on Alfa Romeos, and means almost exactly what it sounds like, there are 2 ignition systems (2 coils, 2 distibutors etc) delivering 2 sparks per cylinder per firing cycle, the theory is correct, but it doesnt really seem to make Alfas any faster or more economical!!

There should be a pic attached of a Bravo, the lights dont look round but they light up round.

I think that the fiat coupe comes with the T.Spark engines .. the same engines from Alfa romeo..

I guess it was the 1.8 T-Spark version with 142 HP.. the other version of this engines comes with a Turbo, 195 Hp..

Fiat Coupes came with four different engines in the UK:

Earlier models had 2.0 4-cyl 16v Lancia derived units: N/A 142hp & Turbo 195hp

Later models had 2.0 5-cyl 20v engines (all FIATs own work): N/A 147hp & Turbo 220hp

(A 1.8 4-cyl was available in some European markets)

Back on topic, did it say "Twin Spark" or "T.Spark" on the Alfa in question?

Well.. they usually write T.Spark, but it means Twin Spark.. i dont remember seein any alfa romeo with Twin Spark, its written as T.Spark..

the T.Spark engines are said to be very reliable alfa romeo engines...
