Folding Passenger Seat & Variable Boot Floor

Featured Replies

Greetings all.

I have taken the plunge and ordered a nice shiny new Superb III SEL Exec (with a few options) to replace my 6 year old Octavia Elegance.

I just have a couple of question for anyone with either/or the folding passenger seat and the variable boot floor.

Folding seat - Is this just like a standard manual seat with the usual lumber and back adjustments, or is it a fixed back that folds? Or does it look any different to a standard seat?

I have trawled the internet, and can't find any good images or information.

Variable boot floor - I currently have this on my Octy, and it can be removed if a deeper space is needed in the boot. This does leave a couple of metal fixing lugs sticking out of the wheel arch in the boot, and the side supports in place.

On the new Superb, can the variable floor be removed if needed, and does it leave any lugs or clips behind?

Any photos would help, to make sure I've made the right choices with the options.

Thanks, Paul.

Cant help with the seat as i felt no need for it, same with the boot floor to be honest.

My viewpoint with the floor was "why" would i need to reduce the height of the boot floor. (standard is like in the full extended low mode)

While i understand it may help with flat loading... but then the seats dont fold flat anyway, plus i dont need a flat load surface.

I can provide photos if required on the non vari floor.

I believe they do fold completely flat with the variofloor SkodaSuperbEstate0715Int(3).jpg

Thanks for the replies,

I need the variable floor to create a nearly flat load area as the car is sometimes used for large items at work (company car). In an ideal world, the rear seat squabs would be removable like the Ocavia so the load are is completely flat, but we can't have everything!

If the variable floor wasn't there, the step to the rear seat backrests would be a right pain.

I agree though, you do reduce the overall boot height. This is why I'd like to know if and how the vari-floor can be removed if needed. I would have thought somebody would have put a demo on Youtube by know but I can't find anything.

Likewise the folding passenger seat hopefully will be great as I occasionally have to transport 3m tubes. At the moment I have to wind the passenger seat right back - not ideal.

but then the seats dont fold flat anyway

They do if you pull out the headrests.

Did look at the floor in the dealers & had doubts as to just how much weight it could carry..................

The variable boot floor is completely removable, but leaves some small support ledges at the boot sides and a steel rod which swings down against the lower floor just behind the back seats, across the full width. The variable floor detaches from the steel rod by rotating some toggles on the bottom of the variable floor.

Its a bit of a fiddle - not least because of the boot length - but its possible.

Personally, I wouldn't be without it.

P.S. the maximum load of the variable floor is 75kg according to the manual.

75Kg.. I put 4 bags of postcrete at 20Kg a bag in the boot yesterday.. (non vari floor)

Glad I didn't go for it.

That really does seem a very low limit. I hit this limit weekly, so I'm curious of how that will work out.

According to page 115 of the manual, the 75kg limit only applies with the floor in the raised position, otherwise with it lowered you are no worse off, save for a few mm floor thickness (or take it out!), than with the standard floor.

As I said, I wouldn't be without it for the flat load area it provides.

  • 4 years later...

If you have the estate factory variable floor please can you confirm how many side cut outs under it there are ?

Pic would be great.

I know you can store the roll load cover and the sling/pocket thing under the floor but is there a third cut out for the factory roll net that attaches to the ceiling that almost no one orders and you have to get from factory otherwise you don’t get the ceiling lugs or at least I have never seen them

Also if you have the Canton woofer in the side do all three still fit ?

Cheers in advance

The fold flat front seat looks just like  standard seat . Push a lever and it folds forward.  Combined with variable boot floor on up position  and there is a 3m long platform. I've used it for carrying 3m long timbers. So it is actually  a few cm longer than 3m. Would carry 3m tubes easily.
