Bonnet strut

Featured Replies

Last time the Superskoda offer was on I purchased the bonnet strut setup for the mk2 Octavia, I've not got round to fitting it yet.

I have a good idea how it fits but was wondering if anyone has fitted one and has some pics?

I'm not going to sacrifice the look of the car so I can be lazy so mines for the bin also.

Thanks Mike

There was a thread about this months ago during and following the group buy, A lot of us, including myself, found that the bonnet profile was raised when the strut was fitted, and we scrapped the idea and got rid.

My OCD would not allow the bonnet to be so far out of true, and mine was removed within 10 minutes of it being fitted. Total waste of money IMHO.

It's the metal lip the rubber bonnet seal sits on that slightly fouls the strut piston.

Mines been on since the group buy and there is a clear mark where the two parts touch when the bonnet is closed.

I fitte mine shortly after getting the car in 2009 and have no issues.

Same here, No problems with mine, It seemed to only affect some of the cars they were fitted to.
