rear seat power outlet

Featured Replies

Hi all

Two weeks into S3 combi ownership and loving the car.

Only minor disappointment; the rear console houses an ashtray and 12v cig socket. I had expected a USB and 3 pin charger

Can't seem to find ref in the brochure. Car is SEL exec. Did not opt for trizone or smoker's package. What option should i have taken?

1200 miles already and loving it (REPLACED A VIPER GREEN SCIROCCO MID-LIFE CRISIS!)

AFAIK the 230V charger outlet is not available in the UK, either with tri-zone or without.

No 220v outlet on UK spec cars. The Euro socket doesn't meet UK safety standards.

Ah

Too many German youtube videos.

So no USB in rear regardless of spec?

Seems a bit mean for a family car, but can easily adapt the 12v.

Thanks

And.. i think i read that the EURO plug had been dropped as standard spec as well now..

I have the below solution in my for front and back car which works really well.  - couple of quid for both from Amazon or ebay.

I also use a 12volt/dual USB output plug for the front. But I bought one of these for the rear from Amazon. It provides a 13 plug socket (which I needed for a Surface tablet) and a dual USB output, it works well but is only recommended for low voltage use. The 12 volt plug in bit swivels which fits well in the rear ashtray.

£12 When I bought it a few weeks ago but prices have gone up now slightly.

Many thanks. Will pick up a bullet adaptor. Just think it looks nicer to have a dedicated usb behind a flap than an adaptor in the ashtray, but as i said, a minor inconvenience in a great car (and I won't be spending too much time in the back).
