Roomster - Retrofit Front Fogs and DRL (again?)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just fitted in my new Black Fog Light Units (as per Fabia Monte Carlo/Black Edition Roomster).

From : http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/FABIA-II/Fabia-II-10-12-Facelift-day-fog-lights-MONTE-CARLO-OEM-Skoda-Autoas

also listed on a German carparts site but not necessarily available - Cheaper listed price but no DRL bulb adapter.

Pain in the neck getting the blanking pieces out ! Had to cut holes and pull with twine !!

I have a loom kit from Kufatec which has the main cable that has the Fog lamp plugs plus an earth. This loom goes to two grey Pos. wires marked B9 and B10 presumably from a Control Unit (BCM?) and a link wire probably for connecting from the new double fog position light switch NL pin - presumably to a Control Unit (BCM?) somewhere on an unknown pin ???

The kit also has a couple of extra little patch wires, but I can't guess what they do or where they may go ???

I understand that even if I connect up the wires as supplied correctly I will have to get a dealer or someone to re-program the computer (VCDS ? sorry not sure of the proper names for the system or the control units).

If someone can help with the wiring arrangements needed for a near OE fit then that would be great - also anyone near Bristol with the knowledge and kit for re-coding (?).

Failing all that I will just fit a relay and do it the old fashioned way (probably cheaper).

I can also just fit a DRL wiring relay kit from eBay, but is there an official wiring scheme for the DRLs ? I would have to add the Defeat switch as it's not fitted under my dash. I have got the correct plugs for the lamp sockets as fitted to the units.

Thanks for any advice / help.

Pete

Don't suppose you have a link to the kufatec loom kit

I do but it is not very helpful !!!

I have buzzed out the new switch that I have and it is not quite the same as the available pin-outs I have so far found - At least the mechanics may be the same, but the attached wires seem different to me (logic only, not had a go at the loom on the back of the fitted switch yet . . .)

The kit I got from Kufatec comprises

1. Loom of Power Wire -- 2x Small Pin Plug Inserts (B9 + B10)  to 2x Fogs H8(+)  & 1x Ground to 2x Fogs H8(-)

2. Power wire - Blade Fuse Connector to Light Switch Pin Connector (Female)

3. Slightly smaller wire - ?Mini Blade Fuse Connector  to Small Pin Connector (Female)

4. Thin signal level wire - Small Pin Connector (Female) to even smaller Tiny Square pin connector (Female?)

I have found a couple of free Fuse slots with Switched Power Bus attached (Fuses 40, 41) at bottom left (RHD)

I think it is just easiest to add an automotive relay and wire into the Light Switch for a signal and Fuse box (40) for switched +12V.

Hopefully the connectors on the loom and add on wires will supply the necessary connectors for the Skoda bits . . . e.g. Switch and Fuse panel, and I can just use good old spade connectors elsewhere !

Must admit I used a kufatec loom for the cruise control found the instruction translation quite poor
