I went to view a 15 plate Octavia VRS Estate yesterday, Diesel DSG.

The mileage was on 19k and the service light was on to say oil change in 200 miles. Asked the salesman and he said it will be fully serviced prior to sale and it is on long life servicing.

Will this be the first service or should it have already had a service? I was short of time and forgot to check the service book

Oh and does the DSG need servicing every 40k?

Variable service on the diesel is up to 30,000km (just under 19,000 miles), so this would most likely to be the first variable service. I think the 6 speed DSG needs a 40K service, not so for the 7 speed.

 

Edit: Unless the car has been changed to fixed service, then this would be the second service.

Surely if the car has covered 19K miles in less than 2 years on Variable servicing then the service will be the first?  6-speed DSG needs the oil changed at 40K miles.

The thing with variable servicing is that it is variable. If the car is driven hard on short journeys the service interval could drop way below 19k.

It is on just over 19k and the counter says 200 mile til oil change?

Picked the car up. It started on variable but first owner changed to fixed and had it done at 10k, dealer I bought from completed another service at 19k before collection, keeping the car on fixed.
