MFD

Featured Replies

Started last week, MFD resets itself first thing next day. Any ideas? All I can think is battery is on its way out, car always starts but can turn over slow when cold. Used 500+ miles every week. Can't find any setting to set the MFD to do this only to reset using the right hand toggle switch on the steering wheel by pressing down for more than 1 second. Any thoughts?

Original battery?  Could be getting a bit tired.

Yep original, still my only thought that it has to be battery,£109 at skoda dealer sounds not bad for diesel.

It could simply be that the time duration got to 100 hours when it will automatically reset.

Yep agree good price Drefaldwyn, not sure what the AH value means that is only 77?. Danny57 the MFD is resetting every day so doesn't make the hours or reach the mileage to reset. Has to be the battery.

77AH is the capacity of the battery - more than adequate for the Superb. The Cold Cranking at 780 is above average.

Many thanks Dave for explaining.

It's not been changed inadvertently from trip 2 to trip 1 has it? Trip 1 will reset after a few hours of being parked up where as trip 2 is the one that goes for 100 hours etc...

Not sure what you mean by trip 1 or trip 2 ? Can you explain please. Everything resets the next day time driven mileage travelled and average mpg ?

Go to any of your readings where there is a 1 or two showing on the upper right, then press the right roller on your steering wheel, it should then change the number to either a one or two. So if it is showing one before you press it should then show a two after pressing.

Your car has two trip memories.... Trip 1 is automatically reset after a few hours of being parked up but trip 2 is stored for 100 hours.

As Danny says if you look at the MFD on average MPG or journey time or journey distance you will see a small '1' or '2'. Clicking or pushing the right hand scroller will change it from one to the other... Holding it in for a few seconds will also reset it.

It's possible yours has always been on trip 2 but you have caught the scroller and changed it to trip 1 which is why it is reseting.

Is this battery also suitable for MKII FL models which has start-stop? Eurocarparts has a separate (more expensive) range of batteries 'for vehicles with start-stop function'

Sorry, can't advise on that. Probably best to look in the handbook for the battery specification?

No worries. Does this mean that the pre-FL MKII does not have start-stop?

Mine doesn't.

The only preFL Superbs that had start/stop were the greenline models.

So as to assist the original poster see what we mean about trip 1 and trip 2... Here is a picture of mine this morning showing it is on trip 1. (Notice the small '1' in the top right hand corner).

The start/stop batteries are built to a different specification - and are a lot more expensive. Had mine replaced under warranty (which was good as the Start/Stop battery was €281 versus €100 for a non stop/start car!)

Yep thank you all for the information, looked more carefully this morning and i am currently on number 1. I will change it to number 2 on the way home and report back in the morning.

No new battery just yet then. Does it mention it in the manual?, i'll have a re read again tonight

Ah I'm glad it just sounds like you have inadvertently changed it from 2 to 1.  :)
