I know that (well some of it) but what has been frequently asked for is at least the 1.4

Typical Skoda! As here in the UK a lot of people want it with DSG and its only available as a manual.

I think the 1.0 for economy and the 1.4 for a more spirited drive would be excellent for the Yeti.

It probably says something about Skoda UK's profile of the majority of Yeti owners.

Defo, and I wonder how the UK compares to Germany in sales volume, since they seem to have every flavour of engine/transmission combo the VW group has to offer available for the Yeti.

We are now seemingly living in a time of energy surplus and thus you would expect greater demand for the 1.4 DSG version.

It's almost like the UK importers are given the short straw.

As an aside; 61% of U.S. sales last month were trucks.

Agreed, and why not offer DSG on both? It seems that Skoda UK have a 'down' on the Yeti by refusing to offer the range that would cover their customers needs. Or could it be a way of balancing/reducing demand for RHD Yeti's?

The current Yeti has more than 2 years to go so unless Skoda UK do something then they risk losing potential customers, me included, to competitors with newer models.

Skoda CZ are allowed to build and sell in what ever world region what the VW Group decide.

The tail does not wag the dog.

The VW Board might not even run VW, after all they 'know nothing'  just a few rogue technicians,

a little boy did it and run away.

1.0tsi 115 to be rolled out across the range during the 'latter part of the year' presumably to replace the 1.2tsi 110.

Wonder if this is the three cylinder engine that VAG have introduced ?

Yes, and in the Golf gives better performance and top speed than the MK1 GTI. With only 99 grams CO2 per Km, even with DSG!.

Still wouldn't have one in a Yeti!

Would you have a 1.2 TSI?

No! :D

I know what you're going to say next! :notme:

If I decide to get another Yeti to replace my 1.2 tsi DSG I would be happy with the more powerful 1.0 Tsi as long as it was available with the DSG box. Days are long gone when cubic capacity is the sole determinant of power; in my younger days you were lucky to get 45 BHP in a regular car with engine capacities up to 1.5 litres. Remember the Ford Popular and Anglia, Morris Minor, Triumph Herald etc. Okay I know I am showing my age here and it took me a long time to be converted from "it's all about litres"!

I grew up with those sorts of cars so know where you are coming from but must admit I am finding it hard to embrace smaller and smaller engines.

Particularly in something like the Yeti - something smaller and lighter and not an SUV then maybe.

Given the choice of the 1.4 as well though, other than in L&K spec, what would you go for?

But do I really need a 1.4? Most of my driving is local and rural on narrow winding roads where there is little or no chance of overtaking anything other than a tractor. Otherwise I am driving into a city where the average speed is 10MPH at best. A few times a year I do long motorway drives cruising at 70'ish - visiting relatives or going on holiday. 95% of time only 2 light people on board. I have found the 1.2 perfect so hopefully the 1.0 will give same performance with better MPG to the 42 I am currently getting (true average over 42,000 miles).

The maverick side of me says get the more powerful 1.4 but honestly I don't need it, The Yeti is right for me because of the higher driving position, I don't use the Sports of the Sports Utility Vehicle!!

It will be interesting to see what actually happens, it is known the 1.2 tsi is being replaced by the 1.0 and also known that the 1.4tsi is being replaced by the new 1.5 tsi towards end of year.

The Yeti is facing much more competition, the Ateca, Mokka-X, Kia Niro etc at similar time as the run out period starts.

Skoda faces choice of losing customers or trying to retain them until it's new Yeti is available (the Kodiaq is in a different sector, big, not compact and easy to park)

I very nearly ordered a new Seat, but the lack of petrol DSG stopped that.

Yes, you would have thought it more important for the new Yeti to come out first rather than move into another sector already covered by models elsewhere in the group.

In that way existing and new customers could have a choice of the new model or a runout model in the near future. Having to wait too long, they may as said, decide to look elsewhere.

I was also interested in the new Ateca but, like you, lost interest when dealer confirmed no petrol DSG. Dealer was obviously not a happy man because I was certainly not the first prospective customer who lost interest when told no petrol DSG.

Big question I suppose is supply of the new petrol engines and DSG gearboxes. Golf, Polo, Audi AI and A3 all have the latest 1.0 Tsi and until new engine production satisfies demand from the more premium VAG brands I doubt they will be made available to Skoda. I wonder if that was why the Ateca launch was delayed??

Seat have just released their new June price list and it is showing a Ibiza FR 1.0 eco TSI DSG although the old 1.2 TSI manual is also listed (and is 17g CO2 higher than new 1.0 DSG)

Therefore appears the engine is available (although not yet it Yeti)

Volkswagen have the 1.0 TSI /115ps in the fat lumps that are the Golf SV and those have a RRP in the mid £20,000's.

Not selling well obviously, so 'Much Cheapness' can be had as Dealers / VW need to get some shifted.

i expect you can expect them in Skodas quite soon.

You can order the 1.0TSi 115 in the Octavia already.

Any idea on how Orders or sales of those are going?

The 1.0 TSI has been in the Ibiza since its facelift launch in September (ish) 2015. I have one, on a 16 plate with DSG.

Took it down the motorway for the first time yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed. Very well composed at 60/70 and 80mph although as expected, fuel economy massively tails off at 80mph, as with most small engined cars.

Just updated my fuelly. Tank was brimmed before we set out on the journey, and 205 miles later I brimmed the tank again and took readings. 51.4MPG. I'm very very pleased with that!
