Vcds access for bluetooth, mph etc...

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Im new to this forum and pick my (new to me) octavia Vrs Blackline estate up from the garage  this week.

The bluetooth hasnt been enabled yet and wondering if any knows if i can get the garage to sort this when i pick it up.  Im getting the car from Robert Eardley in stoke, so basically id like to know if anyone knows whether they can do VCDS changes there? Id also like the maxidot to display MPH so need the country setting changed to austraila. If not im based in Wrexham and wonder if anyone has any contacts etc that i could use to get this done.

Cheers

Bob

Dealers don't use vcds and Bluetooth requires a box and mic to be fitted not just a case of coding

Not with a amundsen + head unit, it's built in

Yep with the standard factory unit in the Blacklilne, you just require vcds and a £30 mic unit.  Its an easy job, many have done this, myself included.  Bluetooth module is built in the unit but just not enabled from factory which is most odd.

There is a spot on guide on the forum somewhere.

Thanks

Thanks guys, I've seen that thread so I really need to know about getting hold of someone with vcds? Are the cheap cables off ebay any good and is there any free downloads of software? I could do it myself then? It's all new to me at the moment but may be worth a go doing it myself

Don't buy a cheap/cloned cable, they have zero support and there have been problems with messing up the coding of cars. The real cables are in the region of £270 for a hex-can and the micro-can is cheaper.

The software is free and can be downloaded directly from rosstech http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/index.php - it will only work with genuine cables :)

OK I'll see if the garage can do it first then look elsewhere

There's a genuine VCDS cable for sale at £150 on this very site in the classifieds if you're quick.
