advice needed resetting the service schedule

Featured Replies

cars been on longline servicing and was due a service in 3000 miles

decided to take the plunge and bought a ross tech  micro can for vcds

plugged in the unit and went to reset the service but as its a uds instrument cluster i have to reset it via esi: resetting esi

have reset it and turned key off and on. checked service reminder on the car and both mileage and time are blank ( believe the figures come up after covering 600 to 1000 miles)

i am assuming this has reset it to the long life service plan but i wanted to set it as 10,000 miles to next service.

can this be done with the micro can and whats the procedure ( don't think it can be done on dashboard alone as i have tried the push button, turn to right procedure)

any help would be good

Should be possible via the adaption channels of the instrument cluster.

if I remember you should be looking at:

- ESI: Coding for service interval extension-Select of ESI or SID

- SID: maximum value of distance to service

- SID: maximum value of time to service

Do you have to enter values for both distance and time and is the distance in miles or km as default

I've only used it to put the back on to variable rather than fixed servicing so I'm not sure if you'd need to set either or both after changing to SID.

If I were you, I'd change to SID and then read the other two channels to make sure they are as expected, making any changes as necessary.

It's definitely in KM rather than miles though, the default for fixed servicing should be 16000 km (just short of 10000 miles).
