Disabling central locking?

Featured Replies

My 2014 Octavia Elegance inc. KESSY and other additions appears to have a central locking function which engages whenever the car starts moving and prevents the doors from being opened from the outside.  I can release the servos with a button on the centre dash unit, but it is proving a PITA to have to keep doing so as family members deal with gates on the driveway and I do pick-ups on the hop regularly for school etc.  Is there a way of preventing the central locking mechanism from engaging automatically and leaving it for me to lock manually assuming I want to?  I would even be happy to not have the doors lock in this way full stop.

Many thanks

Its just on the Car menu on the radio. Just untick the autolock function.

Manual explains this.

glasrich - many thanks for that - I'll take a closer look at the menu tomorrow - I did have a quick flick through the menus today and got as far as car and then settings, but didn't spot it.  Now I know its called Autolock I'll also check the manual if I can't find it.

You can also use VCDS to change the speed threshold that activate autolock. Default is set at around 10 Kph.

It's still a nice safety feature, preventing from hijacking or some "scum" stealing your belongings by opening a door when you're stuck in traffic.

mailme - that's useful to know and would seem to make good sense, but so far I'm not playing with VCDS - not brave enough!

I was stuck at traffic lights for long enough this morning to have a play and finally found it under the heading of Autolock :-D  I've turned it off and will be able to find out tonight if I've been successful.  At least with the switch I should (I hope) still be able to activate it when I am ready by pressing the button once underway which is how I've always done it previously.  It was becoming a real PITA when the kids ran up to open the driveway gate and then wanted to get back in and I'd forgotten to click the button - I was getting all sorts of grief!  LOL
