If you get a single long beep the first time you put it in reverse then it is usually one or more of the sensors, a scan with VCDS indicates which.

Also might be worth checking that the switch that detects reverse gear is engaged is working - does your reverse light work?

thanks jimbof sorry about delay-had long beep unable to fix myself but skoda collected and returned car sensors gone needed replacing ok now
