VRS stage 2 remapped today - Still only boosting to 13-14 psi maximum.

Hi, I got my car remapped once again today and after remapping it it's barely different to how it was before. It boosts to around 14 psi max and the power delivery in 2nd gear is all the way up at around 4k rpm. 

Mods - 
3" turbo back exhaust 
Induction Kit
Front mounted intercooler
Forge 008
and maybe a few others that I'm forgetting.

Has anyone suffered from this before and how did you sort it if you did?

V12 Chip Tuning in Manchester

 

The owner previous to me got it mapped by his 'mate' who used a manual boost controller to control the boost, which makes me think it could be an engine problem.

is the manual boost controller still operating? surely this will still dictate the boost even if you have had it mapped again ...... wouldn't it need removing?

Sorry for not clarifying, I removed the MBC before it got remapped.

Was any kind of health check done before they slapped a map on it?

I hate the "stage" thing but... stage 2 should reach a peak boost of about 1.5 bar/21 psi around peak torque and then hold 1 bar/15 psi for the rest of the rev range.

I checked it for fault codes using a vagcom and nothing came up. I also know that it isn't leaking air between the turbo and inlet manifold. What else could of been done?

That was my understanding. I've just taken it out again without the maf plugged in and it remains to boost the same 13 psi.

Some logging of requested against actual data might have helped, for boost, MAF, Lambda etc not having a go at you I'm just surprised they went ahead with the remap with an underlying issue. Do V12 not have rollers? Even if they don't have rollers I feel such places should make sure a car is at least boosting and fueling correctly before they develop it further.

I can try and get some logs on the weekend, you're right that would of helped hugely. 

 

And yeah, you'd of thought... unfortunately they don't have rollers, a downside I'm sure. I guess that's what you pay money for.

my stage one boosts at 1.6 bar max, and holds about 1.1 bar at the lowest ;)

 

OP: have you tried servicing the forge 008 ? I have a forge oo7p that was not holding boost when I bought the car, a service kit cured this.

I sometimes like to call mine "stage 1.5" with the other mods, as all it need is a front mount to go "stage 2" lol.....

Also, more boost doesn't always equal more power. Mine made a touch more power flat-lining at 0.9 bar as opposed to 1 bar, as the little K03S was just churning hotter air around by then.

OP: have you tried servicing the forge 008 ? I have a forge oo7p that was not holding boost when I bought the car, a service kit cured this.

I bought it brand new so I shouldn't imagine that's the problem. I'm going to go right over it tomorrow, I managed to find a split pcv hose earlier, so I'll be getting that ordered tonight.

That's interesting to know, I'm guessing there's a bit less torque though?

It looks as if the actual boost is always a bit higher than the specified. Any ideas on this?

Also, after checking fault codes once again I'm now getting an additional two MAF codes (16486 / 16487 - this could of been caused by me unplugging it for testing.) and I'm still getting the boost pressure drop code(17705). I've found two of the air leaks, one has been fixed and the other should be fixed tomorrow, but both of them are far too minor to make a 4+psi difference. I've also serviced my Forge 008 which hasn't made a difference.

Im a bit confused as to why specified boost is dropping. Yes actual boost is a bit spike and fluttery, but where it dips loads it's actually following specified. I'd actually be tempted to go back to V12 with this and show them your logging data, take laptop and show them the excel file, and ask them why it looks so weird, especially specified. Just see what they say, they may take more notice just because youve shown them data. Fixing the leaks will help but as you say I don't think that will completely solve the issues. It could be something as simple as a software error, compounded by the air leaks.

I'll be giving v12 a call tommorow to try and get this booked in to be looked at once again.

Gear change would explain that. When logging keep it wide open for as long as you safely can, if you need to brake or ease off just clutch in and abandon the run as things get confused. See what they say anyway, also try a log when your air leaks are sorted.

Thanks I'll keep it in mind, that was just before it bounced the rev limiter in 3rd though.

Just clutch in and end at that point. You don't see many of these with a ko3s climbing in boost to redline like that mind, seems to be a bit out of control. You could put N75 on your list of things to check.

Thanks, the power delivery of it does seem a little off. The boost can fluctuate anywhere between 12 and 14 psi throughout the whole rev range.

No car should be mapped without a full health check before and live logging before and after to make sure all okay

I'm amazed it got 'stage 2'd' with what seems to be notable underlying boost issues. Either that or its the map which has completely screwed it, either way V12 have messed up it seems.

OP you could get them to take the map off, give money back and go somewhere useful.
